Waiting for Drexel's orientation information

Twelve weeks until the Spring 2009 Drexel ACE program begins!!! (If the Drexel calendar is right, at least).

I'm somewhat frustrated in the lack of information. My goal is to quit work at the end of February, and take a vacation in March. Still no word on the orientation. No idea what I'll have to do between orientation and the start of the program (first aid classes, criminal record checks, etc). So, I'm frustrated because I can't schedule a vacation (buy airplane tickets, etc). It is something I'm looking forward to, but hate being left hanging.

Does anyone remember how soon before their classes started that they got information packets, or when the orientation was (a week, 2 weeks, a month?)

Or, even better.. Has anyone gotten the orientation info already, and cares to share it? The waiting game is killing me!!!

Loner,

I've actually never been officially notified there is an orientation ;).

I was notified that I could send in my fee to reserve my seat and really haven't gotten any more info aside from housing paperwork asking for me to reserve my housing......

Orientation is about two weeks prior to when school starts, mine was Sept 8th or 9th, and school began on Sept 22nd, I didn't get notified until end of August, and I remember calling them trying to figure out when I should give my notice to my job. (I wanted a vacation before I started this program too)

You probably won't hear anything definate until mid February, but wouldn't hurt to call them. They generally have an idea when the orientation is going to be.

Well, not exactly 'orientation' information, but I just got a packet in the mail..

It has information on :

Chind abuse clearance check

Criminal background check

drug screening test

CPR certification

First Aid certification

Immunization records (due march 2)

2-step PPD (due march 2)

clinical FERPA form (familiy educational rights and privacy act???)

Emergency contact form.

Most stuff is due March 23rd, except PPD and Immunization records (due March 2).

I don't see anything regarding orientation, though.

Acceptable CPR and First Aid Courses:

AHA - BLS Healthcare Provider Course

ARC - CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer

*AHA courses are good for 2 years! Combination cares are 'unacceptable' (as noted before).

Anyhow.. everyone should get their packet in the mail over the next few days with everything but the orientation.. *SIGH*

Where does it say when stuff is due? I must be missing something in my packet here...because I just got a bunch of forms w/ no explanation that I can find. And then my question, I had my PPD done back in December and already sent in the immunization form, but didn't have the separate 2-step PPD form filled out (I didn't have it back then), so do I have to go back to my doctor's office (again! after 4 trips?) to have them fill this out? Does anyone know? Or am I good with just the immunization form?

You will surely need proof (and paperwork) of the 2-step PPD. You could try to mail it to your Dr's office, and have them mail it back. Not sure about FAX. But the PPD stuff is due March 2.

AB092504,

I had also received immunization forms a while back - which for me was not part of the packet that loner was mentioning (I'm still waiting for a packet from the nursing dept....)

I had received the immunization form from Drexel U / Student services - not from the nursing dept. This is the link to the student services immunization forms and information http://www.drexel.edu/studentlife/ch/II_Main.html

I received a packet with the immunization form, background check etc.

However, there is a drug testing form enclosed but there are no directions or mention of it on the cover letter. Is anyone else in the same boat - perhaps I am missing a portion of my packet...?

Just Cause,

I too received the same packet and drug test form with no directions - am planning on giving Drexel a call to see what is up. I'm thinking it needs to be done at any Quest Diagnostics?

Yeedee,

I logged onto the 'background' check flyer's website and found out that the drug slip is utilized with that.

Thanks for the response!

The orientation for spring '09 is March 23rd and it is mandatory.

thanks nursin09student, i just got the letter in the mail. now, i'm not sure what i'm supposed to fill out on the "registration form". am i supposed to select sections, or leave those blank?

and, the urinalysis thing is somewhat open ended. i guess just drag that to quest or something?

on the happy note, i am well on my way to having most of the other stuff done! tb test started today, ordered uniforms, too! sent off my background check/child thingies. i'm getting anxious!!!
