Waiting for the Adult Learning Mid Manhattan LPN acceptance letter

U.S.A. New York

Published

I took and passed both C-NET and TEAS tests to get into the Adult Learning Mid Manhattan LPN program in NY. I had my interview last week (think I sucked on my essay eventhough I do well with those just my nerves) and now I have to wait until I get the letter of acceptance! The problem is that I have to wait all the way till June-July! Gosh this is driving me crazy. I have everything riding on this. They say dont put all your eggs in one basket..well I did!

I spoke to someone there and the issues is the number of teachers this year, as well as the space because they are closing the Goldwater school on Roosevelt Island. Only two sites left which is the Brooklyn and Manhattan one. Also, they are only accepting 120 students.

I have faith and believe God has a plan for me but Lord the wait is a killer!

I feel in my heart I will get in but with so many essays to read and limited space, I may just get lost in the long process. I have the money that I saved up to pay it in full first day. I have books that im ready to buy to study before school starts just to give myself a head start. Ready to map my schedule for studying time for the whole program. I even have a friend that has her BSN to help me study.

I'm set!!! JUST NEED THAT LETTER!

Its like when you dont have money you see everthing you want in the store but when you do have it theres nothing to spend it on. Then again thats not a good metaphor.

Who else is waiting for a letter? Anyone else think about this every second besides me?

Oh this is my first topic on allnurses so hello all! : )

How did you pass C-net and TEAS?

I didn't hear anything, but I was applying for the Brooklyn center.

I practiced a lot. I got descent scores, handed in my packet and waited. I was in the prep class. So I think they will start sending out emails to everyone soon.

What is the prep class? How did you get there?I don't know much about this program.

quite a read. So, if I'm understanding correctly...theres only 40 seats available? or 40 seats were available for the prep course?

From what I read that program, the HHC, has forty seats which is in combination with the already existing DOE programs in manhattan and Brooklyn which have 60 seats each. Those 40 seats for the HHC program where for the Goldwater Campus program only. Now my concern is that if they closed the Goldwater campus program does that mean the HHC program is going to automatically take 20 seats from the Brooklyn and Manhattan campus'? If they do then there will be less seats for those of us who applied through the DOE.

I think it depends on why they are closing Goldwater campus.

This program changed, the Goldwater campus housed the special HHC program discussed in that link. It was closed due to funding issues I believe. Goldwater got shut down, probably due to financial reasons. Something else is being built in its place. The HHC program offered scholarships to cover the costs of attending the program to low income New Yorkers who fit specific criteria. in exchange, you were expected to work at a HHC facility for two years after graduating. That is no longer offered. From what I understand, the seats lost due to Goldwater shutting down are being spread out between the two remaining campuses of the DOE LPN program. We will see in the next year how this pans out.

Just have to sit tight and wait and see.

I got accepted to mid manhattan as far as I know. I am going to register early next week. The Goldwater campus closed. There are going to spread out the missing class space between the two remaining locations as far as I know. Did you hear anything?

I found their alumni page on facebook and one of the teachers retired because, according to her, they were cutting the nursing program from Mid-Manhattan. Perhaps this is the last year...I hope not.

So...goldwater and manhattan is out? The only option is brooklyn?!? if thats true, then thats pretty nuts!

yikes! confirmed:
