  1. I think it is a good idea to take PN test.I'm an LPN myself and train other LPN my company hires. One of the nurses had the same problem as you are.So she took a test and was lucky.LPN does pretty much the same things as RNs do so try to pass PN. But be aware that it is almost the same test and people who didn't pass the RN version usually have problem with PN.
  2. My first job is home care, and I think it is a great job for a new grad. And if you want to go to school you will have time to study.
  3. Is RNvharder or difference is only in number of questions ?
  4. When my pt's BP is low I give him water(no fluid restriction) .It rises usually. If not tell mom about it document and usually mom gives it anyway if it's higher than 90/60 but lower than 100/70- the doctor range.
  5. I lost baby at 11 weeks:-(There was no support at home.My husband blamed me .It was my 3rd semester. As a result I just couldn't make it.After this my mother in law started to blame me for being kicked out from the program. It was my personal hell and I feel your pain:-(
  6. I finished it last year and unfortunately rumors are this year will be the last one.If it's true it's very sad.
  7. I passed PN with 85 questions.I Felt like dumb. Had a lot of SATA and was sure I failed.

Patient has a trach he is 25.Of course I know how to suction but I don't know how to manage the plug.In theory you should break it with saline and cough machine and suction the rest of but I never did it myself.Im even not sure that it is a plug .It's my diagnosis. It is my first job first patient and he is a new patient to the agency.Im planning to call the charge nurse and respiratory therapist but from my experience as an HHA agencies usually don't care much. You should be very persistent.

I'm a new nurse .My first job is home care. It's not my dream job but it was the only place that took newgrads. I have a patient with muscular distrophy. Most of the time his o2 is good but than it can suddenly drop to 82. Sometimes I'm not able to get through with open suctioning. It feels like I'm already down there but it too still high.Nothing comes out.I call his mother and she uses saline and cough machine. The problem is mom is not always home and I don't understand what I'm dealing with.Is it a plug? Will saline helps to get rid of it?What to do to not panic and if I can't break it?
  10. Wow that's good
  11. $17 new grad without experience, home health care, 25-28 with experience NYC.
  12. I'm a new nurse too . I'm about to get my first job as home care nurse and I'm scared to death. I was a good student and know my theory but real life is different. Home patients are stable but things still can happen. You can ask for help on the floor but what can you do at home? How to stay calm? How to have the brain that work when you need it?
  13. Congratulations:yes: I passed for the first time. Was using ATI , Saunders and free phone apps. I made the notes, for the pharm especially, and study them. I made a lot of questions.Especially closer to the test.
  14. For Brooklyn it is Kings County Hospital. From 8 till 3 pm.Two weeks of clinical than two weeks of school. Nurses were nice.
