Hi! I'm new here. I live in Vancouver, British Columbia. I applied to Red River College in Winnipeg, Manitoba last week for Joint Baccalaureate Nursing. I finished my pre-req's last semester. I'd be able to receive a letter by end of March. This program is for Sep 2007 entry. Waiting is making me sick...I get that sick feeling in my stomach. I'm so anxious whether I'm in or I'm out...that's all!!!

Hello. I'm also waiting and am so very nervous. I have to wait until May to find out--applied in January. I just want to know already! Best of luck to you! Ann
It's nice to know that I'm not the only person going through the waiting process. We had interviews last week nd should know something by week after next. I feel pretty good about my chances, but you can never be to sure. I am 41, and have 3 sons ranging in age from 21, 18 and 13. One in college one graduating HS and headed toward college, and one going into the 8th grade. Gladly I have a very supportive husband, who said go for it, so here I am. He was a career military man and I was the housewife who took care of the home and family, so I never worked outside the home until he retired in 1999. I went back to school while working at an elementary school looking at a possible teaching career, but that didn't feel right. While taking biology, my instructor encouraged me to look into nursing, I never thought I had that in me, but he did! Once I began to explore it, and watch Discovery Health: Trauma Life in the ER, and others, I really got excited. It really culminated when I began taking A&P and loved it. I graduated in May with my AA College Transfer Degree, and began A&P in fall of 04, and am currently in A&PII. The only thing I lack besides the Nursing courses is Micro, and I will take that in the fall.
The other girls in my A&P class are just as anxious to hear as I am, we are trying to support one another, and encourage each other along the way. I just hope that my age won't be a hinderance to my being a successful nurse. I would love to hear some encouraging stories from late career seekers, as well as anyone else whod' like to share.
Good luck to everyone waiting, I hope you all get in!
I made it!!! I'M IN!!! Not in University of Manitoba because they only take Manitoba Residents (I'm from British Columbia) but in Trinity Western University. Goodluck to all that is still waiting.
