I just graduated and am moving to Cali from PA...very nerve-racking even more so it doesn't sound as though I am going to be getting my ATT before I move in late july.....so i can take the test before i move...so if i fail....i wouln't be left paying outrageous rent with no job.....ok i'm ranting...the point is i've been reading some of these posts and I applied to the board but was under the impression that i shouldn't register with the testing facility until i've actually gotten my ATT card....am i confusing the information???

I think that you can also register on Pearsonvue's website, but can't get a test time. The boards of nursing indicate to Pearsonvue who is eligable to receive an ATT, at least in my state. My ATT notification came through the testing service. Hope this helps!

If you are American-trained, then there is no issue with applying to Pearson-Vue now. If you trained overseas, it can be months before your credentials are approved. That is what you may be referring to.

Pearson-Vue will not issue the ATT until they have approval from the state where you are going for initial licensure.

Suzanne, to clarify if I understand you. I sent in my appl. for limited permit and my appl. for first licensure and they received it at the NYS BON either today or yesterday. Does that mean that I can register @ Pearsonvue even tho the school still has to send my transcript and I haven't received the booklet from Pearsonvue nor sent them the $200?

Don't know if this info helps, but my class was in a similar situation until yesterday. This applies to WI only, since I know every state has different laws/regulations about this.

According to the WI SBON, you can register with Pearson Vue & pay your exam fee before your school has even turned in your paperwork to the state.

However, you cannot schedule your NCLEX exam time until after the WI SBON has deemed you eligible......meaning they've received copies of your graduation statement/transcripts, processed all the paperwork, done the background checks, etc. Also, your temporary permits do not get issued until all this is done, as well.

In the beginning of May, when my class filled out the paperwork for licensure & temporary permits to work as GNs, our instructor told us that we could not register with Pearson until we were notified by the State to go ahead & do so. After getting conflicting info, I emailed the WI SBON and got a reply back saying that my instructor was incorrect.

I am currently going through the process here in Pennsylvania.

I was able to send my applications for Pearson and also for my Temporary License. We were told by my school to send for the Temporary License first along with the $35 fee. Once the state determines that you have graduated, they will process you. Your school will send them this information (At least mine did). Once you've been processed, your name will show up at www.dos.pa.us when you search for your name at "Verify a Licensee" on the bottom right side of the page. A few days later you should recieve your license in the mail. Once this process if finished, they will send your information to Pearson. This is why you should wait a week or so before sending your information to Pearson along with the $200 fee because they cannot process you until the Temporary Permit has been processed. After receiving your information, Pearson will send you your ATT (Or Authorizaton To Test) via email or mail (which ever one you chose) and then you can set a date and time to test.

A week ago, the Department of State was very behind on processing permits. I guess this time of year LPN's are renewing their licenses. If you are unsure if they have received your information, its best to call (which is a headache in itself)

Good Luck to you!

You can apply to Pearson-Vue at any time. I applied to Pearson-Vue and got my notification that they received my payment, etc back in February. I just applied to the NJ BON last week. I won't get my ATT until the NJBON processes my application and they authorize Pearson-Vue to allow me to test which I suspect won't be for at least another month being I still have yet to do my fingerprinting. I have to wait for an appointment for that. But you don't have to have your BON application in first or Pearson-Vue in first - either one can go ahead of the other.

you can apply and send your applications fees at any time before you graduate in Virginia- I sent mine in the middle of May along with my application to the VA SBON and then I recieved a letter from VA SBON that I would recieve my ATT card in the mail from Pearson VUE as soon as VA SBON recieved my transcripts next week {when I graduate wooooo hoooo!} and then notifies Pearson VUE of my eligibility to test. then Pearson VUE mails out the ATT cards. does that help?
