  2. ok everyone i have a few questions for y'all. any and all help or advice would be helpful. i am currently an lpn and am looking to advance to get my rn= my goali s to get my np- however due to the fact that i have 3 children all under the age of 5 at home and a husband who works 3-11 the best option fo rme to get my rn seems to be through either rue, the college network or university of phoenix. if i go through iniversity of phoenix it will be approx 27 months and i will have my bachelors. and if i go through either of the other 2 it will take me about 15 months to get my asn- phoenix it will take me 15 months to get my associates but not my rn and then another year to get my bsn my thinking was to do it through rue or collge network and ge tmy asn in the 15 months and then work towards my bsn and msn while already working as an rn- does that make sense or ami gonig about it the totally wrong way? i am trying to make this easy on my family and not be gone so long since i spent the last 2 yrs in school to get my lpn and had 2 babies while i was in school=- so i dont want to be gone more than i need to be and with my husbands schedule i can't do night classes- and i am wondering what is the best way to go since my goal is to get my np and i am not even sure what i need to do to get that. i amthinking the best way is to do rue or college network and get my asn in 15 months and then work as an rn while i am pursuing my msn since i am assuming i need my msn to become an np? any advice anyone???? i have no doubt that i can do the online program- that is not the issue i am just trying to decide the best way to go. any advice anyone has will help thanks! chrissi:uhoh21: :uhoh21:
  3. you can apply and send your applications fees at any time before you graduate in Virginia- I sent mine in the middle of May along with my application to the VA SBON and then I recieved a letter from VA SBON that I would recieve my ATT card in the mail from Pearson VUE as soon as VA SBON recieved my transcripts next week {when I graduate wooooo hoooo!} and then notifies Pearson VUE of my eligibility to test. then Pearson VUE mails out the ATT cards. does that help?
  4. Where Did You Get Those At?
  5. so it seems that everyone is recommending that you go through the EC program? are you having good luck with that program??
  6. Ok So I Just Had A Meeting With The College Network And To Me It Also Sounded Like Just A Expensive Publisher. How Much Does The Ec Program Cost? Would You Recomend Gonig Through Ec On My Own Or Doing The College Network First? With Me Having 2 Kids At Home And One On The Way And A Husband Who Works Odd Hours Its Hard For Me To Have To Do Classes At A College And I Would Rather Do An Online Program If Possible. Any Advice On Programs Or Colleges Would Be Of Great Great Help! Thanks Chrissi
  7. i use mine all the time and its so much easier than carrying my drug book and pdr's and lab values books around i just downloaded it all to my pda plus it keeps my class and clinicals schedule straight.. as well as my kid's schedules haha. i would definatley recommend it!!! I have a dell and i love it!
  8. ok- that is a big help. my question is what is the cpne?? I am confused. lol they gave me the price break down today and where the testing sites were for me to take the gen ed tests plus the nursing concepts classes and thent he locations for the clinical tests. is that what you are talking about? the pamphlet did say that it took about 3-6 months to be able to get a testing site availability. thanks for your help!!!! chrissi:mad:
  9. ok everyone i could use a little advice. i am getting ready to graduate in may with my lpn- and everyone in my class is deciding on where to go to get their rn- i am also planning on getting my rn- however i have 2 young kids at home and one on the way in april and a husband who works a shift where i wouldn't feasibly be able to do night classes and i have been in school full time now for 2 years and can not go another 2-3 years in school fulltime financially wise and be able to take care of 3 kids and work full time. i am the type of person that i learn very quickly and catch on very quickly and have a good medical background being an emt/and a medic before i enrolled into this program that i am in now. i just had a meeting with someone from the college network where basically they send you the study guides and you test out of 67 credits and take nusing concepts 1-4 and then do your clinicals in a 2 day testing period and you have your asn - he said it could be done in 1- 1 1/2 years- i looked at the material and i think realistically i could have it done in about a year- and then if i wanted to do my asn to bsn through them adn regis university that would be about another 18 months- my head is still spinning from all the info- anyway it looks like it will be cheaper and easier for me to do it. i think that i could do the study guides and the testing out very easily. i just was wondering if anyone else on here had done that or had any experience with it and how they liked it? i dont want to enroll if its something that isn't going to be worth my money- please give me some advice!!!!!!!! chrissi:roll
  10. i am a nursing student about to graduate... and i have to say my experience with the nurses on all of the floors and all of the offices and rotations we have had to do go to have been great- however i am one of the students who gets involved and asks questions and always asks "what can i do to help you today?" we do have some students in our class who are obnoxious and dont' ask questions and just kind of stand around and only do the most necessary to get through the day and those seem to be the ones who come back witht he bad evals from the nurses. so my advice would be to just help out wherever you can and be interested take the inititative to be your own advocate in your education. the staff nurses aren't going to teach you anything you dont act interested in learning. soak it up! learn all you can from them.. they will be your best asset in clinicals!!!! chrissi
