I suddenly thought about how I HATE to see actors vomiting. It really turns my stomach, I close my eyes. Yet taking care of patients in PACU, it doesn't bother me at all.

Just another one of those what bothers me on film, but I deal with it every day, threads.

:barf02:While I pride myself on a fairly strong stomach, I am not a fan of fishing through anything with a tongue depressor...

you ain't seen nothin' til you've had a crazy woman who swallows needles, and you have to catch all her feces in a hat and look for the needles in them....and if you don't stay in the bathroom to watch her every minute, she'll fish them out herself and (yup) swallow them right on down again. also pop-tops on soda cans. that woman made me want to go swallow something sharp by the end of her admission.

i had a deal with a friend who would empty my suction cannisters (oh, lord, i hate sputum:barf01:) and i would empty her gi drainage (which made her gag:barf02:). everyone has a strength and weakness :D

Vomit does not bother me at all! Neither does urine, feces, or even blood! BUT SPUTUM... BARF! I would clean a dozen emesis dishes before I'd do trach care. And we only got in-line suctioning about 2 years ago. Before then, you'd be sprayed in the face (not matter how careful you were) every time you'd suction a pt!

Also, we had a trauma pt one time that came in coding and when we started to bag him brain matter oozed from cracks in his scull and nose... that got to me!
