voice recorders

what are some good voice recorders that you guys use for lectures? How many gb would you recommend it to have?

1) Almost any of them will work fine.

2) As much as you can afford. There are great apps that will even transcribe for you. However, there are often errors, so be prepared to go over the transcription immediately and compare it with your notes to be sure it's correct; if you can't tell how to correct it from your notes look it up in a reputable textbook. Never rely on technology alone. I keep a file of funny things my dictation software has come up with. This was yesterday's winnah:

ruled out for Pullman area blind

was supposed to be:

ruled out for pulmonary emboli

Don't forget to ask for permission, though. Many students have posted that their programs do not allow students to record lectures.

I'm a huge fan of the Livescribe pen. I bought it during my undergrad days and fell in love. It records the lectures and you can go back and listen to it as well as converting your written notes to PDF files. I have the one that came out a few years back, but I believe they have a new WiFi one to use with the iPod/iPad. Also, you can search your lectures for specific words/phrases (which is good whenever you have moments in which you just completely get in a daze...very easy to do in nursing school!).

I actually use my phone (samsung galaxy note II)

It also keeps me from texting or 'checking for emergencies' during lecture :p

I use the app "Easy Voice Recorder" in case you're wondering!

Specializes in critical care.

I used the app "highlight" on my phone although the app "noteability" is great, too, because it'll pair the recording with your notes.
