Dose anyone know how long one has to work in order to get tuition reimbursement from VNSNY? Some hospitals will not give tuition reimbursement until you work for them for 6 months or 1 year. How about Visiting Nurse Service of NY?

Thank you very much i also want to know. Does VNS teaches CNA and LPN courses and do they place you in Homes, Hospitals are nursing facility. What is the cost like. Thank again for responding to my question.

I don't think they offer CNA or LPN classes. They provide home visiting services for individuals mainly. You can take a look at their website for more information. Also, you can go to their open house with specific questions.

re the original question - (loved)- i think tuition reimbursement starts either 3 or 6 mos after your start date - i know a nurse i started with was taking NP classes right away and i think she was reimbursed. you can get reimbursement both for nursing and public health coursework that is leading to a degree.

re nats' question - VNS staff nurses are usually RNs, although occasionally LPNs are hired. partners in care is affiliated with VNS and employs home health aides. they have the 1199 union, which i believe reimburses for LPN or RN courses (but i'm not 100% sure). i don't know re CNA training. good luck!
