Visa Screen Certificate is required by all foreign nurses wishing to obtain a green card to work in the US, as well as any type of temporary work permit, such as the Nafta TN Visa for those from Canada and Mexico.
It requires that you pass either the NCLEX-RN or the CGFNS exam, as well as the series of English exams if you are not exempt from them.
The CGFNS exam is only required now in about five states, and rumor is that one or two will be removed from that remaining list as well. Do not bother with that exam if you are not going to work in a state that does not require it, or you have no way to be able to take the NCLEX exam from where you are currently located.
The application for the VSC is now only good for one year.........please do not apply for it until you have passed at least one of the required exams, or you may need to pay an additional fee.

hi guys...just want to ask if I also need to send a mailing envelope along with my Verification of License/ Registration to the Vermont Board of Nursing or are they the ones providing the envelope which will be sent to CGFNS?...Thank you very much...:wink2:
Hi, I just want to ask a question: I paid the fees in order to have my IELTS results forwarded to ICHP, however the British Council told me that they need my CGFNS Number so that they could send a hard copy to ICHP. But unfortunately, I dont have a CGFNS Number because i did not apply for any CGFNS Services up until now.They also told me that they could send my results electronically but they could not send a hard copy of it. Do CGFNS Accepts results electronically? or should I wait for my CGFNS Number when CGFNS has received my application form?

The processing of the visascreen is extremely fast.:) I didn't realize it will be so easy. I mailed my application July this year and when I checked my account last Sept 3, it is indicated that I am already certified. CGFNS already mailed the certificate and will be on my doorstep anytime this week, I guess. They even gave me a tracking number.
Now for my next step, Can anyone help me find an employer who offers working visa?

Wait until you hear from CGFNS and have an account number then contact them
