visa retrogression

Is US currently open in recruiting nurses from the Philippines? There is visa retrogression in the Philippines. Does that mean that any sponsoring agency or hospital cannot recruit nurses from there, but can sponsor nurses from other countries that are not under retrogression?

The worst has passed in my opinion, but there is a hard time for all of us, even nurses that were not affected that bad before, now many new grads are having a difficult time finding jobs, many things changed for sure. Let's see but I think congress and the government have too much to do nowadays, this retrogression will last for a while, unfortunately.

We gotta keep our fingers crossed, and just wait patiently or leave for another country and start a new life. It is a tough topic to discuss for sure.

Where can one find UPDATED OFFICIAL news on visa's being available? Like an offical government bulletin where I can scan ? I really hope my family members can get a visa within 5 years.

At the risk of sounding like the Angel of Doom there seems little in Mr Obamas speech last Wednesday to offer much optomism for the reform many have been anxiously waiting for. I don't think he will tackle the Comprehensive Immigration Reform (CIR) bill until the Healthcare reform bill has been done and dusted, which is looking very uncertain!! There are many hoping that the CIR would pass as as it has been presented it includes not only provision for the illegal immigrant and their families but visa recapture and also the possibility of making nurses exempt from visa capping. I fear that if CIR goes through in any shape or form it will look very different from the original and leave many nurses dissapointed.

As I am one of the many nurses caught up in this I know how frustrating it can be but I would urge others to have a plan B. I am planning my career on the basis that I will be in the UK until I retire as otherwise it invades your life, if things change, all well and good, if they don't well, I'll continue on my current path.
