Chamberlain College (Arlington)

U.S.A. Virginia

Published

Hello!

I am inquiring about any new updates about Chamberlain College (ADN/3 year BSN) Programs. There are several threads in regards to the college but nothing that I've noticed past 2014. If you have any advice about the college or experiences I would love hear them. My hopes are to apply for Fall 2017 and complete the 3 year BSN program. I'd love to attend a Community college but the wait list in my county and surrounding counties are currently over one year out. Also, I am registered to complete my last pre-req (microbiology) Spring 2017.

If you are willing to share anything about Chamberlain College (Arlington campus specifically) I would greatly appreciate it!

Thank you and good luck to everyone on their future Nursing endeavors!!!!

OP: I have given you the site published by the FEDS that gives you the vital stats you need to know about the Chamberlain for-profit schools.

As you can see or have seen, the schools that are well established list tuition, graduation and retention rates. These things allow you to handycap your odds of getting to graduation.

I do not wish to put a damper on your desire to become a BSN as quickly as possible but you must know on today's post secondary educational landscape, impatience can be lethal.

Chamberlain (DeVry) schools charge on average 25-32K per year in tuition. That is a lot of money to become an RN.

I am more than a bit concerned that none of the schools list graduation rates. They do, quite curiously, list retention rates. Listing retention without graduation rates does not make sense in terms of giving you the success information you need: and especially for the money they charge.

So you do have alternative options available to you:

1. Use (collegescorecard.ed.gov) to compare other possible choices to reach your goal.

2. Since you already have the prerequisites almost completed you could apply to a more cost efficient program. There are lots in your area.

3. Why get stuck on the BSN? Look into CCs that offer the ADN degree, even if it means working a year or so till you get in. That way you could self-pay for the ADN and save yourself from the loan wolf all together.

The real payoff here is working as an AD nurse and having the institution you work for pay your way to a BSN via tuition reimbursement. This benefit is worth a lot.

You have many options and you should know that ADNs do 99% of what BSN nurses do. And the best part is that the ADNs who got the degree on the cheap get to take home their entire paycheck while very often the BSN is busy paying off the loans.

As I have said, your worst enemy is impatience and buying into the "we love you" sell of the for-profits.

All their academic (marketing) advisors use the same "you're in pain, we have the solution and can help" playbook.

Remember the degree is never worth it if you pay too much for it.

I took a tour at chamberlian and spoke to the addmission office before and honesty they are just money hungry. I would suggest you look at NOVA or other schools like Marymount Howard anyt of those schools Chamberlain is way too expensive and honesty i find them to be frauds.

I went for a visit and I was sooooo disapointed. First, the tragic was ridiculous and you have to pay for park I g ad a student $55 dollars a month. I live in Columbia so for me it took a 1 and 39 minute to get home. It is ridiculous.

The building is hidden and only God knows what happens to those classrooms

I did not like the costumer services and everything seeam fishy. In top pf that I already have all my prequises and still it will costs me 25 to 39 thousand a year! Really? I will wait,thou...Otherwise I will be in deep trouble.

The school cannot really control traffic, the cost of parking in Arlington, or your distance from the building. Having lived in Arlington, I am not surprised that any of this was disappointing! Did you not check out the tuition costs before visiting? Chamberlain is expensive, you are smart to look around.

What about Maryland community colleges? I have a lot of friends who went to Anne Arundel CC. Wouldn't Howard CC be really close for you?

I knew the cost, but I just wanted to see with my own eyes. I am looking into University of Maryland or accelerated program at Harford because Ann Arundel you have to show proof of residence. Thank you.
