Hi everyone!
I was hoping I could get a little advice about UVA's CNL program. This looks like an excellent program and I will be applying for a May 2014 start date (deadline is Oct 1). I'm basically putting all my eggs in one basket with this one, but I have fallen in love with the school and the program!
Here are my current stats:
- Graduating Magna Cum Laude from Liberty University (May 2013) with a BS in Healthcare Management. (3.7 GPA)
- I have volunteered at the local hospital both at the information desk and as a patient representative in the emergency department. The info desk was 1 day per week, and the ED was 1 day every other week--would have liked every week for that one, but demand was high for this position. My volunteer experience is not as extensive as I'd like, especially since I've had to take time off for my CNA class, but I plan on resuming it upon completion.
- I'm currently in the last week of a CNA program, where it seems very likely I will be nominated class valedictorian (I was surprised they even practiced that, but it is what it is I guess :)).
- I satisfy all pre-req requirements except for A&P 1&2, which I intend to complete over the summer.
- Once I pass state boards for my CNA licensure, I plan on getting a limbo job mostly for clinical experience while I work my regular job (mostly to save money for school since I have a husband and a young son as well).
I guess what I'd like to know is what anyone's experience has been like with UVA, what their stats were like, and what the interview is like (from what I understand, its just a short phone interview, but I'd like to know what typically gets asked, etc).
I'd appreciate any insight anyone has on the subject!!
Finally got my email interview to schedule one for next week. Of course, the only times are either during one of my classes or when I would otherwise have been studying for an exam. But at least I am getting the interview. If I understand things correctly, I don't believe all applicants are interviewed, so I am glad to have made it this far.
Hi Everyone! I have enjoyed reading the different threads about the CNL program. It seems too good to be true! I will not be applying until next October, as I have a few more pre-reqs to fulfill. Good luck to everyone who has applied, and is anxiously waiting to hear back! Any advice for a future applicant would be much appreciated. What is everyone's background prior to applying to the program? I don't have much experience with healthcare. Take care
My advice is start volunteering if you don't have much experience. First, you see if the medical field is really for you and you get to put that experience as part of your application! Start working on your essays early!! You will feel much more relieved when you can apply a month before the deadline than trying to finish at the last minute and hoping you have everything turned in. Good luck!!
I had my interview on Tuesday. Very short and only a few questions about what your experience and what you find attractive about the program. I really think it is to make sure you are capable of having a conversation with another adult because it was very basic and very quick. That said, I think it went well. Kaitlyn - I think they do them through the month, so I wouldn't worry too much. I also am not sure if there is really any rhyme or reason to when you interview.
To Kaitlyn, I have yet to hear anything about an interview myself. I am probably panicking as much as you! I think we have a few more weeks to hear something so I guess we shouldn't be worrying quite so much yet. I actually tried to private message you the other day but I couldn't figure out how to do it on here lol! We can least keep out hope for each other! :)
Hi everyone, I know this is a blog about the CNL program but I was wondering if anyone knew anyone who had applied to other MSN programs for UVA? Do they also interview well into December? I got an email last week saying that the we would know something by November 22? Anyone's friends heard back yet? Thanks!
