I 100% recommend portage as a great and quick alternative for knocking out your pre-reqs. I was in the same boat trying to take Pathophysiology at DCCC but would’ve had to pay way more than needed due the the fact that it was a 4 credit course with lab  . I am currently taking patho through portage  and it’s a breeze ! Love that I can go at my own pace and really digest the material . They also include lecture videos with each module to further explain material .  If I had known about it earlier I would’ve taken most of my pre-reqs through them .

Hi, what study tips do you have for Patho?? I'm finding that my material vs test info can be a little hit or miss and can be very very detailed compared to the notes and videos. Any thing would help!!

^^^^ This! I am taking Patho with PL and I can definitely say this is true. I study the material thoroughly and am confident I know all the info, but then comes the test and the questions are so detailed that I end up not doing as well as I thought I would. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Have you reached out to the professor?

I’ve been having this same issue with PL and patho!! I try to memorize every single thing and when it comes to the test I feel like I’m missing something. I reached out to my professor about it and she basically told me to memorize every bolded and italicized word in the notes. I make flash cards with basically every single term/definition and it helps me a little bit, but I still feel like I could be doing so much better on the exams. Hope this helps a little!

Yes! I feel like there is a huge disconnect from test and material. Anyone I've talked to has said the same thing. I did well on the first 2 but the last 2 I haven't done the best on. Im like I studied the material and was completely familiar but its still not connecting somewhere. Im going to see how I do on this module 5 test and if not, im reaching out again.

I'm relieved I'm not the only one feeling this way. First 3 exams I got As, then everything else so far has been Bs. I make flashcards on everything.. I literally try to convert the entire lecture into my notes and flashcards and still questions pop up on the test that I'm not familiar with. I am studying for Mod 6 right now.

OMG!! It is such a challenge because the material isn't the hard part, it's the test!!      How did you do on Mod 5?

I got an 85% on Mod 5. I studied very hard, although there were just a few odd questions that weren’t part of any major topics. Very frustrating and I contacted the prof about this but she said I’m doing well and not to worry. I was aiming for an A in the course so I am a little disappointed in my grades but oh well. I feel like I have to literally memorize every single sentence! Don’t gloss over anything, try to retain as much as possible. I’m a bit nervous for the final LOL. Maybe we should form a study group for the final exam?

Same here! The test questions are so detailed I feel like if I miss one little part of a definition that’ll be the question on the test! I’m studying for module 7 right now and I’ve gotten B’s on all the exams which I’m not complaining about, but I was hoping for an A. I’m so nervous for the cumulative final cause that’s ALOTTT of info to know. If you guys form a study group I’m definitely interested!?

Just curious, how long does each module take you? If you’re not already finished with the course before me I will definitely reach out on here so anyone who’s taking Patho through PL can join in! I haven’t taken a cumulative final in so long.. kinda hoping they were phasing out ? Good luck on your mod 7 exam!!

Sounds good and thank you! Each module takes me about 14 days. That’s what my professor recommended and I’ve kinda stuck with it! Although studying for the final might take longer than that ? and right?! I honestly forgot about cumulative finals LOL. Good luck on your next exam too!

Same here! I try to average 2 module exams per month. Thanks!
