Ventura College Fall 2016 nursing applicants

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hello everyone, I thought I would start a forum for this since I'm planning on applying myself to the VC nursing program for the Fall 2016 semester. Anyone else applying out there?

Hello, I applied 03/15/16 for the Advance placement program. I have my TEAS test on APRIL 29, 16 @ Santa Barbara City College. As I heard there is 9 people on the waiting list. Are you in generic program or AP?

I just applied to VC on the 14th! And have my TEAS on the 22nd, wow right around the same time, well I'm applying for the basic ADN program that VC offers. That's a little bit of people on the wait list, I would apply there but that is about almost an hour drive for me. How have you been doing on studying for the TEAS? I'm so nervous!

Oh wow! Pretty much one day off! Well my coworker attended this Nursing program back in 08' and she gave me really good feedback. She did say this program is difficult but education allowed her to become a knowledgeable nurse. As for the TEAS exam I found this URL: allnurses.com/teas-exam-help/how-i-passed-804222.html. I'm going to use this as a guide along with my TEAS book version V and buy the online practice exam on ATI.com. So for Generic are they starting you out at VS10? The counselor put me in at VS20 but she said if I didn't pass then I would go back to VS10.

Okay, yea I seen that post, I'm doing the same with studying for the TEAS..the English is the hardest for me for some reason. And yes I I get accepted o would start at NSV10..so you are technically already in the program? How does that work?

Hey Cathereen09 I also applied to the advanced placement this year. They said letters will go out in May but not sure when in May. Did they tell you how long the wait list would be? I was told it would be a while even though there is only a few applying for advanced placement because it depends on space availability (which sounds like people dropping or failing VS10 I guess).

Yes, Although I still have to take the teas text next week. I believe there is 10 people on the waiting list and the counselor informed me that years in the past they received budget and they allowed more students to enter in the program where they mostly grabbed 10 more LVNs from the waiting list. So who knows. Have you completed the teas test as well?

Oh nice! I hope that is true. Yes I took it last year in October for another school I applied to. I am still waiting on them next month too. Problem with the other school is that I was bumped down a few more slots because 3 others had applied a couple months before me and the put them in front of me once they took the test so I'm afraid I won't get in now. I really hope I get in to Ventura.

Well at least you applied to more than 1 school and just be patient that's all that matters :) Did they give you a Number on the waiting list for Ventura yet? She told me once I get my score in next week they would be able to give me that information. I do believe if they do not get a budget it may take awhile as I asked 1-3 people got in every semester :/ How was the TEAS test for you? Any Advice?

No number. I called to ask but they wouldn't give me one and just told me to wait for letters next month. I asked if it would be a year and a half or a 2 year wait and she said it wouldn't be that long so that's good news since that's what I heard from the counselor. The TEAS..well I only had a couple weeks to prepare so I know I could've tried harder. I bought the TEAS V manual on Amazon and online I bought the TEAS practice tests A & B. You get 2 tries for each. I only had time to do one version.

Hmm That is odd they wouldn't give you a number?? When did you apply may I ask? I had Bea as my counselor she was really sweet and she told me that they would give us a number after all the documents are in and including TEAS for Advance Placement. She also told me there are a handful of people who fail out of VS10 or they decide to transfer into a later semester.

I applied early in January of this year since we get to apply before the generic applicants. I was told I can call to get my number too once I would submit my tEAS transcripts electronically. Once I did that, I called the nursing dept last week and that's when they didn't give me a number and told me to wait :/
