ack! I need to find another name for the ventral surface on an animal. Any ideas for sites on where to look?

Try looking in a medical dictionary or online animal medical terminology information. There are some websites that have information about cats and fetal pigs which are often used for disection in anatomy classes, so you might find some information there.
It could be anterior or posterior...maybe :) Can you tell my first week is going well? I've been looking at disection sites...guess I'll keep at it.
Found it! Good old Dorland's :)

Ventral is the belly side, so anything you see if you put the critter on its back.
They were looking for inferior.
Inferior means below something
On a 4 legged animal, the ventral surface is inferior.
on a 4 legged animal the ventral surface is inferior to the thoracic surface ?
I'm baffled by this
How did the thoracic cavity of an animal get involved? I know the thoracic cavity in Humans is on the ventral side, but this question specifically asked for another name for the ventral surface of a quadruped.
[NA] In human anatomy, denoting the front surface of the body; often used to indicate the position of one structure relative to another, i.e., situated nearer the front part of the body. Syn: ventral 2, ventralis
Near the head or rostral end of certain embryos.
Undesirable and confusing substitute for cranial in quadrupeds. In veterinary anatomy, anterior is restricted to parts of the eye and inner ear.
I'll try and find the link that I did last night, and I found it in my A&P book, that referred to it as inferior surface.
