VEEB LPN Program (info request)

Published

Hi All,

I'll be starting at VEEB in the Fall and was wondering if there are any current or past VEEB students that can give some info on this program.

What are the Teachers like?

What are the required books?

Is the program as intense as they say?

Do they have articulation agreements with other nursing (RN) programs? If so, with who?

Are there any disadvantages in taking the LPN course outside of a Community College setting?

Do they provide job Placement at the end???

Any information that ANYONE can provide will be GREATLY appreciated! I really want to have a full understanding of what I'm in for. I have 2 year old Twins and I am a little worried about whether or not I'll be able to juggle school/studying and Family!

hi guys! i was just wonderin' when we'd be able to really get the result of our exam. i took mine on feb. 8 and as i looked back through the earlier thread, some said that they got theirs after a week or two. but as far as i remember the lady who gave us the exam told us that we'd get the result in about a month, and what comes after that? i mean. what should we do next after we received the letter that we passed.

Akanini....thanks so much for that i was really feeling down...but now u gave me some hope...thanks sweetie i will go and give it my all!!!! God willing I passed the entrance exam.:D:D:nurse:

Hi i took the entrance exam for veeb it was pretty easy common sense type of test. However i recently found out i am pregnant if i get into veeb i will start in September but my due date is October. Does anyone know of anyone that is pregnant and is in veeb? will I be able to miss a week or a few days I plan on giving birth and going right to school I know it sounds nuts but i really have no other choice. I cant afford to wait another year to become a nurse.:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

First of all congratulations on the pregnancy!

Second, only YOU know what is right for you, and what you are capable of. I will say, being a student at VEEB, i really could not imagine missing a week of school. They cover SO MUCH material in such a short period of time. ALso, you dont know what kind of a birth you will end up having (God forbid any complications) and how long it might take you to heal, etc. Also, do you really want to give birth and then immediately be away from your baby? These are all things you have to consider. No one can make that decision for you. I am NOT trying to discourage you, because there have been people who went to VEEB and gave birth during the program, and still finished the program. If I were you, I would wait to see if you got in, and then go speak to Mrs. "I", the counselor. She is very nice and can help steer you in the direction that is right for you.

If it turns out that VEEB is not right for you at that time, I UNDERSTAND you dont want to wait another year to get your Nursing career started. May I suggest checking out Western Suffolk Boces? They have an LPN program that starts in March. That might be a better choice for you, if you want to recover from giving birth in October, and into some sort of a routine.

Whatever you do, Don't get discouraged! It will happen for you if you have the drive! Let us know how everything turns out and if you have any more questions, we are here!:D

thank you...:)!!!

i thank god that i have a wonderful support system my parents and husband are behind me 100%. they are willing to help in any way possible to fulfill my dream of becoming a nurse. i also thought about what you said and i can only hope and pray that i don't have any complications when i give birth. however i do understand where you're coming from and i do appreciate you taking the time to inform me of other options unfortunately western suffolk boces is too far for me. veeb is only a 30 min ride if that i am coming from queens. i believe the lady that gave me my entrance exam is mrs. "i" if it is her she seems like a fair and reasonably person i will defiantly speak with her if i get into the nursing program. once again thank you.

Hey Ladies n Gents, I take my test on next week Tuesday (March 2nd)! Was wondering if this test date is too late, because I know seats fill up quickly?! Anyway Wish me luck or better yet...pray for me! :lol2: Gonna give it my best! I'll keep ya'll posted...

GOOD LUCK!! I personally feel that i messed up inthe vocab portion of the test the timing wasnt enough for 80 questions the reading and math was easy do anyone know if you didnt do well in the vocab whats the ratio of getting accpeted in the school?

Hi

Dont worry the vocab and reading are scored together. I think you have to get an 11.5 on that . Then the math you need a 9.5 . The math is scored separately from the other two the worry is the Math . Good luck:yeah:

thank you the math im good at and the reading was just concerened about the vocab im still waiting for results the women that gave out the exams said shes the one that scores them one by one so 6weeks
