Hello!! This is a thread for those applying to VCU’s DNAP program (Jan 2022 start)! The application is now open so feel free to share where you are in your app process, any questions, advice, etc!

I’m applying this year, I have everything together besides taking my CCRN, which I’m very nervous for? Also have to write my statement of intent, which thankfully, I have a plenty of time to put a lot of thought into it! Also waiting on one more recommendation to be submitted.?

HI!! I am reapplying to Richmond campus this year. I am local and am excited for the opportunity again this year. I needed to score better on my GRE and take a science refresher. Hopefully those things will help me get a letter of acceptance this go around. I have been a critical care nurse for 8 years in a large teach hospital and I am ready for the next chapter... I have worked in CVICU and some time in level 1 Trauma. I look forward to speaking with everyone in this years application pool and wish you all the best of luck.

Very excited for this process to start. I'll need to finish my draft of my letter of intent but that is the last thing to go! I can't wait to see the other awesome RNs who join this thread! We got this! :)
@CoffeeScrubsAndRubberGloves Do you have any tips for us having been through the application cycle already? Best of luck to you and everyone else!! Still working on my personal statement and getting all my recs in too!

I’ve interviewed at 3 schools. All very different. It really depends on what you want at that school. I would say go in open minded. Be 100% honest and tell them everything you want them to know especially in your personal statement. This really is process about the school seeing if you are a good fit for their program but also about you making sure that school is a good fit for you. These two things are very important and I had to find that out myself. I know without a shadow of a doubt that VCU is a good fit. I didn’t even reapply to the other schools.
are any of you local and where are you coming from?

I’m right there with you! Reapplying and hopefully get past the interview this time LOL.
The family and I just moved down to Richmond so I will also be applying to that campus. I am going to be taking a science refresher this Spring (covid has made it impossible for me to do it this Summer/fall)
I look forward to the applicants on this thread!
hope everyone enjoyed their holidays!

Hey everyone, my name is Taylor. This will be my first time applying but very excited about VCU. I was an Army helicopter pilot for 21 years and became a nurse after I retired. Currently working in the CVICU at a Fort Lauderdale hospital. I took the GRE in December but I thought I read somewhere on the VCU website that GRE scores were not required but could be submitted if you wanted the considered. Anyways, looking forward to getting to know everyone applying and always willing to take advice from those who have more experience with this process.

Hi, I'm applying this cycle as well. I'm local to the Arlington campus, and all my recs are almost in, so my application is almost complete for that campus. I have 4.5 years' experience in 2 different academic medical center/ Level 1 Trauma hospital ICUs. I have CCRN/ CMC/ CSC and a 3.4 GPA. I also have a previous degree in biology. Good luck to everyone. :)
I can’t seem to find instructions for the personal statement. It says 2 pages, but doesn’t indicate a font, a spacing or a letter size. I’ve looked in NursingCAS as well as the VCU nurse anesthetist website, and I don’t see anything. Can anyone please tell me what they have found or can send me a link to instructions?? Thanks ?

Hi all! I was wondering about how the GRE went for everyone. Also, do you have to wait until you have your official scores (writing included) come back to submit the application? I was last minute with taking mine so I am a little stressed

I got a 160 V and a 158 Q. 5 on writing. I would just submit your app and then send your scores. Call or email them if you have doubts
