All right, y'all. I know you're out there. Who has applied for the 2018 DNAP/CRNA 2018 cohort? The waiting game begins.
I was waitlisted for Richmond. I'm wondering how many people they waitlist. Depending on how many people are waitlisted and where one falls on the waitlist, being waitlisted may just being a nice way of saying no. Either way, keep strengthening your application and take heart for next year if this year didn't work out!
Congratulations to those who have been accepted into VCU's CRNA program! And good luck to those who are still waiting on a response or have been waitlisted. I hope to be submitting an application this year for 2019. Anyone mind offering some tips for the application and interview process? Such as your timeline & type of nursing experience, if you had to retake classes / GRE, when you submitted your application, how the interview process went, etc. Much appreciated!
Hey everyone!!! I got a call yesterday that I was accepted to the Roanoke campus! I originally was waitlisted for Richmond, but listed other sites as alternatives on my application. Congrats to those who have been accepted! And just a heads up to those who listed alternative campuses....even if you got a waitlist letter, you may still be called for a spot at another location. I was obviously not aware of that until I received the call yesterday and completely shocked! Anyone else going to Roanoke?!
Hey BeatsPerMinute! Honestly I think the best advice you can get for applying is emailing the nursing anesthesia graduate program assistant/program director at VCU. Per the terms of service for this site I don't think I can post their names or email addresses, but they are readily available on the program website. The questions I had prior to applying were similar to yours, so I emailed the graduate program assistant and spoke to the program director over the phone. I briefly explained my situation/work experience and stats, then asked for tips on making myself a more competitive candidate. Seemed to work for me! Good luck!
I agree with Shananigan, BSN! I think they are really looking for people to show initiative! I didn't have to retake any classes, but it all depends on where the strengths and weaknesses are in your application. For example, I probably have less ICU experience than a lot of my fellow classmates, but I was able to counteract that by shadowing and demonstrating my drive to learn in other areas. Hope that makes sense! Best of luck!
