Anybody work at Vanderbilt in Nashville? Conditions? Average salary? Anyone know if they offer any kind of loan repayment? I've perused their site, just would like to talk to anyone who actually works there or knows more about the hosp/university there.
Thanks in advance,
RIchard

Hello Richard.
Although I have never worked at Vanderbilt, I've heard it's a great place to work. Hopefully someone will come along and answer your questions.

Hi!
I know a little about Vandy..
From what I hear the pay is lower than average for the area, but I suppose they mean for the benefits to compliment that..The conditions seem pretty good-it is a university hospital so you have a lot of residents changing hands, etc. Obviously they like to do research on interesting subjects..Seem to really care about their employees
I don't know about the loan repayment option-if you work full-time though you can take 12 hours of credit in the nursing school per year for free..
Any specific field you're going to?
Thanks for the replies.
I'm interested in peds, and am very interested in Vandy's acute care/family NP program. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I have worked at Vandy for about over 1 1/2 year and I love it. I would suggest if you haven't already, that you check out the website. There is a lot of great information about the hospital and the nursing school. If you have questions about the nursing program, there are email addressses and they WILL email you back (I have done this myself). Vandy is very pro-nurse, and we are a magnet hospital. I would not work anywhere else in the Nashville area. My pay is comparable to what I was making in FL, so I don't think its too bad. I work in research and I love my job! The Vandy website is www.mc.vanderbilt.edu

My years working at Vandy were well-spent. Before, during & after nursing school. I learned lots of useful information in every position I held.
What's interesting is that, if you go to a different part of Tennessee & they see Vandy on your resume', they will often think you can handle anything. Seriously. I'm still using what I learned there & I've been gone nearly 10 years now.
