Vanderbilt 2020 Pre Specialty

Nursing Students School Programs

Updated:   Published

I am making a post for all programs I am applying for that I have not seen thus far. I have been going into rabbit holes of previous year's posts for schools I am applying for. Vanderbilt has been my top choice since I decided to go into direct entry nursing the end of my sophomore year of college, so it seems only fitting to make a post for it. I am applying for the PMNHP specialty and look forward to reading posts and getting to know everyone!

When they admit people who turn down the offer and attend another school, they roll the spot down to a waitlisted student. There were a total of 158 spots in our cohort, so that means there were 275 admitted students that declined spots. In some cases, there were students who dropped their spot right before school started, so they had to keep rolling admission down the waitlist until they found someone who hadn’t committed to another school and was willing to show up for orientation on a week’s notice.

Got it. Thank you for the clarification!

this waiting is killing me!!

You know what I was thinking? Maybe one of the reasons their enrollment rate is so "low" (158 enrolled out of 433 admitted -- 36%) is because their admissions decisions are released much later than a bunch of their "competitor" schools, like Yale, UCSF, Emory, Jefferson, etc. I guess that's not true for all of them (Columbia, OHSU, Seattle)... but maybe there are a lot of students who apply to a range of these schools, and then have to commit to one of them before hearing back from Vanderbilt...

*Ruminating to pass the time* ?

where else did everyone apply?

Vanderbilt is the only school I applied to, but I am already looking into other programs in case I do not get accepted. At least we have around a month until we find out application decisions!

I only applied to one other DePaul university. My recommendations didn’t come in fast enough for the others

I applied to Yale, Emory, OHSU, Seattle, UCSF, Columbia, and Jefferson. So far, I've only heard back from 2 - I didn't get into UCSF, but I got into Emory!

How about you?

Hi! Does anyone know when we will hear back about Vanderbilt? I have heard back from other schools but is very quiet....

Second or third week of February. Probably not until the 3rd week though considering the increase in applicants this year as a result of them not requiring the GRE

Just got their financial aid email. It was such a tease to my brain! When I saw the subject line, I thought they released their decisions early. Only 3 more weeks of waiting.

Anyone apply that did not receive their financial aid email? I didn’t receive it and I am not sure if this is something I should be concerned about.
