Anybody have any tips for getting licensed in Tennessee?? Do you not turn in the application for a license to the board of nursing until after you graduate? Every state is different it seems!

If you are going to get licensed in TN then you need to turn your application and do your background check and fingerprinting before you graduate.

After you graduate & your teachers have submitted your grades your SON needs to mail in your info to the TBN so that they can verify all your info, then send you your authorization to test (ATT).

Finally heard and waitlisted:(

Has anyone requested an application for those who are out of state? Did they say how long it would take to send it?

I requested it on Thursday last week and just got it today!

I just got my authorization to test for a Tennessee license. The whole process took a lot of work and requires quite a bit more than my Colorado friends had to do. Some of my classmates have already taken and passed the NCLEX and I just today was authorized to test. My advice is to get it done as soon as possible.

I'm wait listed, has anyone gotten off the wait list yet? I know everyone has to respond by tomorrow, I wonder how long they take after that to let people know.

If you don't mind me asking, how long did the whole process take you? And what extra things do they require?

As for waiting to hear back, I think she would get back to you quickly since she said she would be sending out further instructions next week.

Anyone know much about transferring your license between compact states? I registered for my NCLEX in VA b/c I didn't know about Vanderbilt yet (VA and TN are compact states). I don't graduate until mid-late May though so I won't have my ATT for a while and am worried about having enough time to test and transfer my license...

I talked to TN state board yesterday and they told me it would take about a week to get the paper work that needs to be sent in. I then talked to the lady in charge of their testing today and she said I would most likely get a test date early to mid June.

Just curious, did you have to wait to send in your application packet until after you graduated and your grades were posted? could you send anything in before you graduated like the fingerprinting? I am from out of state, not from a compact state and graduate on May 23rd, so I am not sure if I can send things in early and my final transcripts later or what.. anybody have advice? :)

I go to school in Missouri and I have already applied to the Missouri state board of nursing and paid pearson vue. 4 weeks from completing pearson vue and your state application you can receive your ATT, but you have to meet the requirements from your state board of nursing. Missouri and Tennessee are compact states so I will keep my Missouri licence and I guess make sure it is also valid in TN... I am not sure how to do that, but I am sure it will all work out before July.
