Vanderbilt Nurse Residency Program - Winter 2013

U.S.A. Tennessee

Published

I just mailed off my packet to Vanderbilt today! I'm so nervous and really hoping to get an interview for this program. Adult Critical Care is my first choice. I graduated in May 2012 with my BSN from Washington State University. I thought it would be fun to start a thread for people applying for the Winter 2013 program.

Hoping to meet other people who are applying to this program.

I'm wanting to live in a house so I can bring my dog up to TN with me. She is well behaved and house trained. Soooo if anyone is cool with dogs or has a dog and wants to live in a house... (forgot to mention that previously--my bad!)

I have not decided if house or apartment matters to me (more location)... But I am a dog lover! lol has anyone received a request for the Facebook group?

Yah, I just need a backyard haha. A safe location is definitely priority for me. I haven't received that yet... hoping it comes soon!!

Also, you can Google FBI form FD-258. It will pull up the same pdf form they mail to you from the bureau of health. The information that needs to be filled in can be found on the nursing boards website.

I'm having trouble finding most of you on Facebook. Add me: Ashley Dobbs Vantrease. I am in the peds track. Looking forward to meeting everyone!

does anyone know how many people they accepted for the emergency nursing track?

Question fo those who were selected. I am just doing my application for the summer program, but I don't have any work, volunteer, or leadership experience. Will this count against me? Was anyone who was selected in the same predicament?

Hey guys! I am from tennessee and was offered a position in the adult surgical tract, even though I applied for the adult critical care tract. I have took the position after much deliberation. Congratulations to everyone who was offered a position!

Do it. Volunteer. It's not a must to be accepted, but it will help you in the points standing and thats how they decide.

Thanks. I have already submitted my online application, so volunteer work won't show up on it, but I guess it's better to be able to say that I have volunteered.

I applied to the Pediatric Track for the Nurse Residency Program. I actually already have my RN as well as MSN, but I have less than 6 months experience as an RN since I went straight through school. Additionally, I've only worked in primary care in private clinics, so I decided to go back to get experience in acute care to eventually become an acute care PNP (which requires acute care experience). I e-mailed the program, and they told me I am eligible because of having less than 6 months experience. I've gotten 2 out of the 3 check-marks and have submitted my transcript; I hope that my final reference (who has confirmed she will do it) submits her form soon. I wish everybody the best of luck; Vanderbilt is an excellent place to learn and work! :)

Hey guys! I am glad to see you have started a post for the next residency program. I am a nurse at Vanderbilt and am one of the preceptors used for the med-surg track. You guys have chosen a wonderful program! Our nurse residents are often our favorite employees. Although I was not a nurse resident myself I wanted to make myself available for any questions you have about the hospital or about Nashville. I moved to Nashville about a year and a half ago and didn't have any real contacts so it was a hard transition. I would love to help make yours a little easier! Hope to talk to some of you soon!
