Vanderbilt Nurse Residency Program Summer 2017

Published

I know I am WAY ahead on this, but I just wanted to see who all was applying for VUMC nurse residency program in the summer 2017? The application opens up on December 9th and I want to apply for the Adult Critical Care Track! If anyone has any tips on the application, please feel free to comment! :) I know it's a long time coming, but I just want to see who out there will be applying!

I applied for the trauma ICU! Hope we all receive a call here soon!

ME TOO!!!!!!

I got a call today! Unfortunately they couldn't offer me an interview for the track I originally picked, but she gave me a list of other options available and asked if I would be interested in any of those units! I'm so very happy right now! Even if it's not what I picked in the first place, working there and having my foot in the door will make transferring later on down the road somewhat easier if that's what I want to do. This is such a great opportunity for new nurses!

That's awesome! What did you originally apply for?

Thank you all so much! I originally applied for the Adult ED. I just set up an interview for Adult Med Surg though! I'm so very excited for this!

Any news for ICU people?

I applied for the NICU track and just received a call less than 30 minutes ago regarding my application. They already filled up all of the interview slots for the track I selected, but offered an interview for basically any of the tracks that the application reopened for on February 13th. So, go through this list, research, and pick your top unit to be prepared, because I had to pick one on the call and it was hard to make.

Adult oncology, adult acute medicine, adult acute surgery, adult acute cardiac, adult neuro ICU, Burn Unit, adult PACU, behavioral health, and adult OR.

Same for me. It was tough to decide what to pick! However, I told her my first choice and she sent the link and she said if all the spots were full for that track she would send another link for the next track. It's crazy how many slots were still available and I just looked at adult acute medicine. I counted 70 open slots! So as excited as I am for an interview, I know there's a chance I may not get a job offer. Fingers crossed though!

The email also said they wanted to fill all of the interview slots so I'm sure more people will be getting a call/email.

I got the same one! I am choosing Acute Cardiac, although I am unsure of which one (cardiovascular step-down, cardiovascular surgical step-down, cardiac progressive care)
