Vanderbilt MSN 2018

Published

Hi! I'm starting a thread for Vanderbilt MSN Fall 2018. Anyone else applying too? Please comment!

Arockenhaus1,

I applied to many of those schools too! MGH is a top one for me as well and same goes for Simmons since they're both in Boston with great clinical placements. Vanderbilt is my too but moving from the east coast to Nashville would be a huge change for me but I think change would be good. Good luck!

Hey Everyone!

I am also applying to the PreSpecialty AGACNP program.

I have a 156/156/4.0 GRE and 3.8 pre-requisite GPA, along with 3 years of experience as a CNA. I'm finishing up my Bachelor's in Nutritional Science/Toxicology.

Vandy is by far my top choice - hoping its not a long shot since I'm coming right out of a Bachelor's program. Anyone know how competitive the AGACNP specialty is?

Admissions told me that sometimes they interview the AGACNP applicants and sometimes they don't. Also that they are looking for at least the 50th percentile on the GRE, but that the AGACNP specialty focuses more heavily on GRE/grades than other specialties.

Good luck to everyone!! :)

Just found this post. I applied to the PMHNP program and I will have my BSN in December. So excited and nervous to wait until December/January to hear anything at all since Psych is a specialty that interviews. I am nervous about finding my own clinicals since I am OMTA. I applied part time to stretch out the program to two years instead of one and it gives me more time to line up my clinicals. Good Luck everyone!!

Hi guys,

I applied to the AGACNP track and they told me they don't routinely interview those applicants. Does anyone know when they make admissions decisions by for AGACNP? Are admissions rolling or does everybody hear at the same time? Anybody know if they call, e-mail, snail mail etc...?

Has anyone heard anything back from Vanderbilt? Anyone has a invitation for interviews?

I have not heard anything about the interviews either

Last year the invites went out late November. Fingers crossed we hear next week!

Has anyone received any sort of communication from Vanderbilt? Email confirming your application is under review or anything? Interview?

Nothing here- not even a timeline email.

Do you have any recommendations on books/study materials/videos to get a jump on advanced pharm. & patho.?

My friend in an accelerated program currently recommended a podcast called "Biology 3020-- Pathophysiology"

Chappie-

I didn't prepare in advance for advanced pharm or patho, and I currently have an A average in both of those classes right now. I mainly use the lectures and the lecture powerpoints to study, and use the books to clarify anything that I didn't understand from lecture. From my experience, the tests come straight from what they cover in lecture. It will help to get a head start in these classes, but I don't think it's 100% necessary to do so in order to be successful in the class! Hope this helps.
