Hi! I'm starting a thread for Vanderbilt MSN Fall 2018. Anyone else applying too? Please comment!
Me! I also got that email. I'll be applying to Vandy, JHU, and Augusta this year. Last year, I only applied to Vanderbilt.
That's great, KMD51! I only applied for Vanderbilt last year and will be doing the same this year. During my PMHNP interview, I was told that if I did not get pulled of the wait list to reapply. I feel confident I will be accepted for fall 2019. This time around my application will be submitted on Sept. 17 :)
I wish you the best of luck!
This girl's blog helped me a lot in my application process and navigating schools. She went to Vandy. Worth checking out.

Hello all-I am currently a specialty PMHNP student at VUSN (entered the program with a BSN). Please feel free to ask me any questions. Good luck with your applications!
Hi , I will be applying to Vandy for prespecialty and PMHNP, I think the program is accelerated with 1 year for the BSN, and one year for the MSN, so is the entire program completed in 2 years? Also did you feel competent enough to practice telepsych after 2 years of training?

Each school's program is different and the questions they ask reflect the ways in which the programs are unique. Although Hopkins and Augusta both lead to the CNL, Augusta really emphasizes the fact that they are educating you for the CNL role although they support aspirations other than the CNL role so you can speak about the full spectrum of your interests. Hopkins is a center of research. One of the most attractive reasons one wants to attend Hopkins is because of an interest in research--perhaps policy or later earning your PhD. Vanderbilt's program, as you know is preparing you for a practitioner career and if you are applying Prespecialty, your reasons for wanting to be a Practitioner in your specialty without having been an RN yet are significantly important. With all three, experience in the medical field is a big component of the acceptance rubric and in your essays you want to connect your medical experiences to the answer you are giving to the question they ask. I have yet to visit any of the schools.
