Vanderbilt MSN 2018

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Hi! I'm starting a thread for Fall 2018. Anyone else applying too? Please comment!

I accepted waitlist on March 14th.

Did anybody on this thread apply to Prespecialty last year for Fall 2017, not get accepted and reapply for Fall 2018? If so, did you have to submit all new application materials or just email them, say you would like to be reconsidered and send in a new application fee with updated resume?

I emailed admissions and asked this question (not brave enough to call like some of ya'll :roflmao:--total respect for those of you who call!!)

@MSNtobe23: It would be nice to be make it off the waitlist in the next two weeks but I understand the July "parameter". UNC says you can get off their waitlist right up until the day before classes start--how nerve wracking that would be.

Hey I did not apply last year but I asked them that same question: and it is a new application, new materials, new rec letters, new essays, another fee ect

However, they did say that they will not make people wait out the waiting list two years in a row.

So say you apply next year, you will either be accepted or declined admission immedeately. They said they do that to keep people from having to miserably just be waiting for an answer. So they give the decision accept or decline. I think that's actually refreshing to hear. Because I know of a school that I have heard will put people on the waiting list THREE years in a row. I can't imagine how miserable that must feel... So I think it's courteous of Vanderbilt to only make people wait out a waitlist for one year. But I guess everyone will see that differently that's just my opinion though.

I called last week and was told that if I did not make it of the waitlist that I would have to reapply all over again for next year 2019. She stressed that if I did reapply be sure to do so before the Nov. 1st deadline. Also, I was told that the application is changing next year. Not sure exactly what that means because she did not provide any more detail.

And oh my gosh I read on one of these threads from 2015 that someone got off the list three days before the first day of class for Vanderbilt ! The person completely packed up her life , husband, kids and moved across the country for the program. Haha. I can't imagine . But can't say I blame her! I hope it's before then as well but I would still go in a heartbeat if that happened to me.

I was told that has pulled people off the waitlist as late as August (a week before classes started)! If a student decides at the last minute they are not coming they will pull people off the waitlist to fill open seats.

Oh my Goodness!!! Whew! I am speechless in the face of that!

IRGH!

But, thanks for asking. Proof that no idea is unique. They probably figured I could get my question answered in a forum like this.

Correct. Direct entry

I don't know if this will help but I was pulled off the waitlist prespecialty over a week ago so it is moving. Or one spot opened...
