Vanderbilt MSN 2018

Published

Hi! I'm starting a thread for Vanderbilt MSN Fall 2018. Anyone else applying too? Please comment!

Is anyone still debating between Vandy and a different school?! I can't decide Vandy or Boston College :-/

Anyone else accepted for Women's Health and/or Adult Gero PC?

Hello - I'm in considering Vanderbilt's Direct Entry MSN program. I was wondering if any of you took your prerequisite classes online and if so where? I work full time and can't accommodate the in person classes at the local schools in my area so I'm looking for online options. Any advice would be great!

Yes! I found my online school through an allnurses thread. I'm taking mine through New Mexico junior college online. It's very inexpensive because they don't award degrees, but they are accredited!

Hey, I took all my prereqs online. Johns Hopkins offers them, just search "johns hopkins nursing prereqs" and you'll find it.

I also did one EduKan class which was ok, and I did one class at Rochester online. Rochester was mediocre.

Emory also offers the prereqs online. So you have plenty of options :)

Hi Everyone,

I have been stalking this thread for a long time but this is my first comment. I was accepted to the midwifery program, direct entry, but I just declined my acceptance for another school, so someone should be getting an acceptance soon! Just wanted to offer someone a little hope! :)

MSNtobe23,

I declined today for another school. There's still hope!!

@Emmanade thank you so much for posting / tagging me,

I was starting to have little hope haha, so this gives me a little bit !

& Good luck in your nursing program!!

If anyone gets in off the waitlist, please let us know! I'm wondering when those decisions will start coming in since deposits are due this week.

@KMD51 I called the FNP /CNM admissions counselor, and she said that "if " some people decline their spots and they have to pull from the waitlist, they would start looking at the waitlist beginning of next week.

Unfortunately , she also told me that they over admit. So it's possible that they may not even pull from it.

But I'm really really hoping that's not the case.

Fingers crossed.

Thanks for the info. I was told something similar about 4 weeks ago from PNP. Did you apply anyplace else?

@KMD51

No problem. I don't know what to make of the whole "over admit " thing.

She said they once they start to look at it next week though (if it comes to that) that at that point it moves super fast/ within days .

She said they will first send an email, then follow up with a call. And then we will have one week from then to accept the offer.

And yes I got accepted to UVA, and USD. But Vandy is my top so I've been willing to hold out as long as I can.

What about you do you have other schools for options ?

I actually applied to Vanderbilt last minute. I did some research, and it would still be my number one choice, but I am in the process now of finishing a couple prerequisite courses and volunteering at the children's hospital and hospice. I will be reapplying to Vandy as well as UVA, JHU, MGH, and Augusta for next year if I don't hear back. What did you think of UVA? Have you visited?
