Vanderbilt MSN 2018

Published

Hi! I'm starting a thread for Vanderbilt MSN Fall 2018. Anyone else applying too? Please comment!

Not necessarily - you could work as an RN and go part-time for the Masters!

You could, but will you get hired? I'm from California and almost all hospitals require you to have a BSN or MSN and an RN license to work as a nurse. You wouldn't be awarded any degree until you complete the entire program :/

Based on the financial aid they just sent out, for psych, it would be approx $123k for the whole 2 year full-time program, with an insurance waiver and no scholarships.

Thanks! Is the program a full 2 years? I applied to Emory and they're program is about 2.5 years for FNP but it's closer to 200k.

You're right - you most definitely won't be as competitive!

From what I pieced together, yes (Fall 2018 - Summer 2020). You can confirm by looking at the curriculum plans for each year!

I have my BSN and have 4+ years of acute care experience and I applied to the FNP program. I submitted my application on Dec 8 and haven't heard much yet. I did get the financial aid email and an email about the open house. From what I have read so far on this thread, I waited way too long to submit my application. I am also applying to UNC-Chapel Hill and UCSF. Does anyone have any words of comfort for me? Ha, I'm a little discouraged.

Did anyone else on here apply as an ASN-MSN student?

I think they are probably pretty serious about the November 1st suggested due date even though it says suggested :/ you have great experience so you definitely should have been interviewed!

FNP applicants don't get interviewed.

FYI - I wrote admissions today to ask if the prespecialty PMHNP interview cycle was over. Response was no. Faculty are still reviewing applications and offering interviews. Response also mentioned that is "still early in the review process. "

I know!!! That's how I feel! I got super excited even though it said it's not indication that we are accepted, buuuuut why would we need a financial aid packet if we aren't going!? I'm praying! :)

Someone told me that my particular specialty doesn't need an interview so when I saw that you had had yours and got the same email I was uber excited lol

What did you apply for? I'm feeling the same way! I know I shouldn't look into it, but here I am, getting more excited. I applied for the specialty AGAC-NP route.

Hey there! I applied for WHNP/AGPC pre-specialty on Dec 6 with a background in Social Work. I haven't heard much back either. The only thing I have gotten is the financial aid email/ packet yesterday. I applied in 2015 and wasn't accepted. I never got anything about financial aid, so my fingers are crossed.

I read on here where someone spoke to the admissions department and they were still early in the process and reviewing applications. Hopefully good news is on its way! Be encouraged!
