Vanderbilt MSN 2018

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hi! I'm starting a thread for Fall 2018. Anyone else applying too? Please comment!

On the Psych interview they mentioned how the school tries to find clinical placements for you. I believe that you have to find placements of your own if you are NOT PreSpecialty.

Ahh that would make sense, thank you! I will probably call the school as well and confirm for my specialty :)

I heard that Vanderbilt does not find your clinical placements for you... can anyone confirm this? This seems very strange to me, given the reputation that Vanderbilt has/I wouldn't even know where to begin if I had to find my own clinical placements :/ Thoughts?

Direct-entry PMHNP applicant here. Just had my interview and asked about this. They said that we are responsible for finding our own clinical placements but they would "try their best to assist us." I have a friend who did this program and she said she had a hard time finding a clinical placement for several rotations. She was living out of state (Virginia) and said she got almost no help at and almost didn't complete her clinical hours on time. Don't know how I feel about this...

I had an interview for direct entry midwifery and they told me that they would never expect us to find our own clinical placements and that any school that does is not a good program

Thanks for this info it's good to keep in mind when considering schools!

So, who wants to make the first of many calls starting next week? ... haha

I think we should prob hold off on calling, midwifery told me that everyone finds out around Valentine's Day

Not it! Haha :)

Nah I'll definitely be calling the 22nd or 23rd. I just can't stand the wait! I'm also hoping calling wont annoy them enough to change their decision on me... lol

Yeaa it's probably best to wait, but my interviewer mentioned decisions being made the 22nd of January. He said they wont be released until February, however. But I think we're hoping we can call and squeeze an answer out of them ;)

Would be really awkward to be rejected over the phone though... :\ Positive thoughts...!

Have any FNP applicants gotten interviews yet?

From what i understand, fnp doesn't hold interviews.

We are getting a lot of snow here in TN. Hopefully it doesn't slow decisions down too much!

Does have an admitted students day and if so when is it usually scheduled?

I got a email saying that the acute care full time local students are full and they asked me if I would be willing to consider for part time local or distance student! Anyone else receive the same email!
