Vanderbilt MSN 2016

Published

I haven't seen a thread yet for 2016 hopefuls, so I thought I'd start one. After much research and changing my mind back and forth, I decided to go for the Vanderbilt MSN. I would be direct entry as I already have my BSN. I finally decided on Pediatric Primary Care. I'm just worried about getting a job after graduation as I'm not really seeing much in the way of openings in the Nashville area--which is where I live.

Specializes in Pediatric Critical Care.
I actually meant the internal scholarships! It says that one prespecialty student and one direct entry (and then there are others that I believe are for 2nd year students) will be awarded full tuition. Would be helpful to know if it was already given out as I'm trying to decide between schools and finances are important :)

I'm pretty sure that info won't be out till after March 15, maybe even April. Sorry :(

Gotcha! I had seen on an earlier post (sml14 posted that she talked with someone in financial aid) that they would be contacting the recipients before the deposit deadline, so I assumed next week would be the latest. Since only the person who gets it will be contacted it's hard to tell if they're still deciding or if an email already went out to those who got it! My assumption is if I haven't received an email by next Friday then it went to someone else - it would just be nice to know before then if it's already been given out to take it off the table!

If anyone is still wondering - full rides were sent out - I just called Financial Aid and was told they were already emailed. Bummer!

Thanks for letting us know! I have a 4.0 cumulative GPA and 90th%+ GRE scores so I had fingers crossed and am also definitely bummed out to hear I missed it..but on the bright side I guess that just means our peers are all really competitive! Silver lining, haha.

Has anyone who is waiting on the second round (mid-March notifications) heard anything? Have all the seats been filled and we are waiting for people to turn down their spots? ....or just any info in general about second round acceptance into direct entry FNP at this point would be nice...thx!

I just spoke w/ Bernie in admissions and all of the FNP seats have not been filled yet. She said that the director of the program recently had a death in the family. She said the process takes awhile but now it has been even more delayed. She said to try to be patient and just watch for a notification that your status has changed. It may be the end of March before we know something, hope this helps anyone else who is in my shoes...

Hi everyone- i submitted late like late december and early january----has anyone from that time fram receive a resp? I have been anxious freaking out and calling admissions every other day. Sooooo any info would be helpful -applied for FNPdoes anyone know if the program is fulll? Thoughts? Any info or comforting will be greatly appreciatd

Thanks for the post. Now I wont have to call and bother Bernie until next week. Lol when did you submit?

Hi Scott,

You are welcome! My was turned in by Dec 12th..but then it wasn't complete until the official transcripts arrived which was early January. I was happy to hear that all the seats had not been filled. And according to an earlier post about the admission numbers from last year, it appears that we only have to be in the top 50% to receive an offer of admission. Don't quote me but for FNP it was something like 400 applications with 220 offers and 160 admissions..it's just a waiting game at this point. Scott, I'm in Knoxville, where do you live?

Hello,

I sent in my application for RN to MSN, Psych NP on December 12th and have not heard ANYTHING! Has anyone (that missed the early deadline) been asked to do a phone interview? Also, has anyone been accepted that applied after November 1st???? Thanks so much!

For Fall 2014 there were 467 applicants for Pre-Specialty entry and 225 were admitted, 139 enrolled. These were not all FNP! These are the numbers for all specialties combined. That would be an insane amount for just one specialty. I was told recently by an admissions director that there are 27 spots for Pre-Specialty FNP. They always over-admit, knowing that not all will accept a spot. I'm on the wait list for Pre-Specialty FNP, so that seems strange that they have not filled all spots yet...
