I am staying here in NC for distance and coming to Nashville for blocks- I'll have 2 yrs in ICU by then so I can do clinicals here- wish my husband would agree to pack up to Nashville!! I'm kind of scared to call and bug them at this point, since the last time I sent them a perky little "update" email with some new (and dare I say, fabulous, grades ) he was like, "thanks, we'll let you know if we have a space for you." So much as I am dying to call and say "pick me, pick me! I won't let you down!" I am resisting the urge This whole process isn't made much easier by the fact that I have a lot of family members who aren't supportive and who think I should just give up, unfortunately.

Don't get discouraged. It'll happen. Give it a couple more weeks. I'm sure you'll hear something by mid June. It is probably just taking a little longer to review and sort through everything considering all the goings-on lately - Nashville flooding, Vanderbilt commencement, vacations, etc.

Thanks for the support :) I hope you're right about hearing within a few weeks; if it isn't good news, I suppose I can be thankful that I don't have to find an apartment that isn't molding or otherwise seriously damaged after the Great Flood of 2010 I will certainly keep you all apprised of any developments.

I just heard from a coworker that there have been opportunities in the Vandy area where graduated NPs have had 90% of their school tuition paid off if they were contracted to work for a certain hospital for a year. Have you heard of anything like that? I'd very much like to apply for the Fall 2011 Distance ACNP program, but wanted to find ways of off-setting such an expensive program.

Yep, sure am :-) As soon as I figure out what my budget is like, I'll probably make a combo trip to TN to visit my college buddies in Memphis and go apartment hunting in Nashville. Hoorah, I can finally rest easy tonight! I can't wait to meet you guys!

I guess I'm what Vandy terms pre-specialty, as I do not have an RN yet :-) Some other schools call that direct entry, so I get confused every time I hear that question, lol. Have you found any good places yet? I have a friend living in Nashville now so she's giving me some advice on where to go, where not to, etc. See you in August!

It is confusing as to what type of admission you are :) We have found a townhouse that we are actually buying. My husband's new job in TN will probably keep us there for at least a few years so we decided to buy. It is close to Opryland (but not under water, thank goodness!!)

I am already an RN so I may be a year ahead of you but good luck! This is awesome! See you in August :)
