@IVICU- I did not get a bok list, it said they will mail it out in May- I'm doing RN_MSN so you have year up on me! I am BEYOND excited!!! I will be doing distance, I live in the Charlotte area and there is a level I Trauma center here and another associated with Wake Forest's med school about 45 min away. I am getting nervous about working and school but I know its preferred.
@deemichelle-I bet they need that GRE asap
@Meredith09- my deadline was 5/21 - I applied 3/15 so you should know beginning of June! Will you be doing direct entry?

Yes, indeed I (hope) I will! I have a BA in Art History from a small school in Memphis--Vandy and my alma mater know each other well :-) I'm dying to get in, I've got my heart set on Vandy....which I know probably isn't a good thing in practice, but hey, when you want something sooo bad, what can you do? Hope I get to meet you in the fall!
@vandyanp: would love to hear about pre specialty year; block classes/travel to Nashville; coordinating clinicals-how much did you do on your own, are you doing them in same facility that you work?
How much were you able to work pre sp year and now? Have you interviewed for jobs yet? I bet it is pretty exciting to see the light at the end of the tunnel!
lvICU--which ones were they--do you have Bates and The ICU book- they rock. I have persued both ACNP test providers ( because I am a freak -lol), ACCN,ANCC (which is preferred by most state BONs). I looked at the testing outline and book recs-AACN guidelines are big...are you a CCRN now? I will be elig to test at the end of the yr.
I know you are excited! Hope my prespecialty yr flies by! Have you found a house in Nashville yet? there is a group on FB for students and another for housing suggestions, ect
@celclt- the books are The Washington Manual and CURRENT Medical Diagnosis and Treatment 2010. I love, love, love The ICU Book. Good idea to look at the outline for the testing. Do you know why one certification is preferred over the other? I need to do some more research on this subject. Thanks for posting the links.
I do have my CCRN. I got certified a couple of years ago. Are you going to test once you are eligible?
We went down to Nashville a couple of weekends ago and looked at apartments and also checked out some townhouses. We are actually thinking about buying a townhouse because we would get a lot more space for the money. We are still in limbo though because our house here is up for sale.
Sounds like we are both getting excited!! How much are you going to try and work during school? I am sure that Charlotte has a lot of good clinical sites for you to learn a whole lot :) Keep in touch and good luck!
any news yet Meredith?
UGH, no!!! It's starting to get to me now...I've been pretty cool about it until now. I didn't sleep well last night, 'cause I was up thinking about it. In the meantime however I'm taking two more classes this summer and submitting apps elsewhere, just in case. I think this is the one situation where I can honestly say to myself, "I hope I am doing all this work for nothing!" lol
What's new with you? Found a good place to live yet? I've been scouting Nashville apartments online to get a sense for the market...thinking optimistically here

DeeMichelle: I am not sure how they handle late applications. I know there are already people accepted and waitlisted so I imagine that you would be waitlisted if anything. I would call the admissions office. They will be able to guide you in the right direction.
