Campbell River has a small hospital. All the "big, interesting" cases get moved out to either Victoria or Vancouver. The population is aging (there are a lot of retirees) so winter sees a lot of seniors in the hospitals. Comox just down the road is the same with a very small ICU and Womens unit.
Nanaimo is a bit bigger and Royal Jubilee is the largest on the Island if I remember right. But still a lot gets transferred to the mainland.
The hiring on the Island is a strange process. Takes forever, and local nurses seemed to be preferred.

I'll be moving to Vancouver Island very soon and I'm very excited about it. I'm hoping to work at the Victoria General Hospital. For the nurses who work there how's the experience? ... the hospital, the city. Also anyone working at Campbell River hospital? Might be my second choice. Thanks.
