Valencia Community College LPN to RN program??

Published

I just stumbled upon their program yesterday and I have decided that Valencia's LPN to RN program would be the best for me. I was wondering if anyone had attended this program or has applied and knows the average GPA of the applicants selected for the program. In addition I was wondering if Valencia also had a waiting list for their LPN to RN bridge program. Also, any tips or advice will be greatly appreciated:)

I'm applying for fall, and just attended an information session. Average GPA runs around 3.4, but there is a point system in place that places a much greater value on science pre-reqs. Micro, API and APII are worth more. You must take the TEAS, be IV certified and have at least six months work experience (unless you have graduated from LPN school less than a year before applying). Before a health sciences advisor will speak to you, you must attend a health sciences information session, which you can find on the Valencia website.

Also, just to let you know, there is no wait list. The top 30 students are accepted each semester, so if your scores aren't up to snuff, you may never be able to get in.

Thanks for answering, do you know if its counted against you if you have retaken a course, because I had to retake API Lab?

Nope, retakes are fine!

I graduated this program in December will agree with nekozuki's comments except that if you do not get in the first time around you are awarded 3 extra points for being "waitlisted" I know several people that were not selected the first time but just missed, they were told they had a guaranteed spot the following semester.

That's awesome, John! Can you describe your experience in the program?

do they count your LPN school as part of your gpa?

They do not calculate your LPN grades in the gpa calculations.

The he experience was intense. The program is very fast paced and does not let up until graduation. This is very much a full time program and we lost several good nurses along the way. The program is manageable if you are disciplined as all of the reading is on you to do. No lectures. In the end I had a huge feeling of accomplishment for completing the program because we earned it nothing was handed to us.

Congratulations on your recent Graduation John!!

I just attended the information session today for the nursing program, and they suggested that we do not work while in the program. Did you work while in the program, and if so how did it affect your studies?

Also, How long after applying to the program does it take to receive an admissions decision?

I worked between 24 - 32 hrs a week for most of it. By the time practicu

came I think I was working about 12-20 hrs a week. It will tKe the full time they told you to get admission status. 6 or 8 weeks I think it was

I'm applying for the August start. I just turned in my application two days ago. I'm so nervous, I hope I get in! My GPA is 3.3 but my LPN school GPA is 4.0 and I aced my TEAS so my fingers are crossed. I don't work so I have that benefit thank goodness. Thanks for all your info!

I just submitted my application for the summer semester on Thursday. My overall GPA is 3.0 and my science GPA is 3.0. I got a 77.9.

any of you that were accepted, can you tell me what your GPA's looked like????

I'm just waiting what seems like forever to hear their decision.
