Congratulations on pursuing your VA-BC, it has benefited me greatly.
For those of us experienced in vascular access it is easy. There is nothing on that test that you shouldn't already know as a vascular access nurse.
It is like when I pursued my CRNI, I thought that the test was way too easy too. When you work everyday in something and actually pursue education and training as a regular practice to maintain clinical proficiency, these certifications become really easy.
Good luck.
I'm so glad to hear that! I have a hard time "studying" because it seems to easy!i don't know as much a I need to about dialysis and tunneled catheters so I will just focus in that.
do you know if there are any practice question? So I will feel more confident?
I do think there are any practice questions you can buy.
Personally I made my own flash cards that I just carried with me.
Well I hope your results are positive :)
i have not taken it yet, I want to take it in December. I started in vascular access this past November. I am hoping that my few years of nursing experience covers my other year of dealing with vascular access.
The main part that worries me is over dialysis catheters, I don't deal with them often.
I took it last year just after they supposedly made it more difficult and added to the total number of questions. I knew I passed without seeing the score because I have taken so many CRNI tests ,though I did find the overall focus different thant the CRNI. I decided not to study except I did look over some of the time specific recommendations from the CDC for various things since those can vary slightly from other organizations recommendations. I hate the questions that ask you for the most appopriate nursing actions in a specific scenario. I go over what I would do in my mind before I look at the options then look at the options and think "well I need to know both A and C before I proceed and then of course they just want you to pick one...hate those types of questions!

I am currently studying for my Vascular Access Certification, I have the study guide you can buy from AVA.
The study guide seems so simple, does anyone have any ideas of what else I could also study or take practice questions?
Thanks!!
