Im applying to a few open positions at the STL VA Hospital - just curious if VA nurses are salary or hourly?

Hourly but offers come as salary. They break it down for you in the offer. Initial salary is without shift or weekend differential. Each position is posted with a range of salary which depends on experience, education, etc.

Correct. You will be offered a salary but that is without differentials.

so its both....

Specializes in EMT, ER, Homehealth, OR.

You are paid by the hour, if you multiply your hourly rate by 2080 that will be the salary. If you are part time the salary listed is still the same salary as if it was full time. If you are a employee who is paid a salary they can make you work 40+ hours a week without overtime. The only true salary employees that work at the VA that I am aware of is upper management. Your vacation and sick time will be listed as hours on your pay stub.

your salary will always be there, it wouldn't change, however if you decide to pick up any extra hours you will be paid by hourly overtime pay( of whatever your yearly salary is)
