VA hiring process

Published

Hello,

I have been reading lots of useful information on this site.  Thank you for all of you that have shared your experiences. I received a tentative job offer in June. All of my documentation and physical were completed in July. I understand the process take 60-120 days.  With the on boarding of so many nurses during COVID I am sure they are back logged with background checks. As I try to patiently wait, I wanted to ask how did you receive your official job offer from the VA, email, call, or by mail?

Thank you !

Hello. We are In the same boat ??? I have been at this since January just passed fingerprints and my physical. It's been dead as of a week ago. Kinda of nervous but wish the best of luck!

I applied on 3/31/21 the job closed on 4/5/21 got a call on 4/13/21 and had an interview 4/15/21 and got a call back the next day and they said they were pleased and impressed with my interview and wanted to contact my supervisor. My current supervisor per company policy cannot give a reference and they called me back on 4/20 asking for my former supervisors info to call and the next morning my former supervisor texted me and said the VA called her and she gave me an "excellent reference"  and it's been a week and I haven't received anything and the listing still says "referred" LOL does anyone have an idea what's next? Is this a good sign? I know it can take time but it seemed like they were contacting me pretty quick and now it's gone dead (even though it's just been a week LOL) if anybody has any insight it'd be greatly appreciated. LOL and hope everything panned out for you as well

This is just the beginning..... I interviewed and was given a tentative offer in June. This didn’t include a salary. I had to have a physical, education confirmed, and background check, along with 3 references from previous supervisors. I did not realize that my onboarding was awaiting my current supervisor. I checked in with my hiring manager multiple times and she was quick to reply and told me it does take time.  It was not until October that I learned my current supervisor did not complete my reference. Ugh! So, I had to reach out to a previous supervisor who completed her reference. It then went to a review board and in December I received my final offer with salary.

LOL at least you got an official tentative offer. LOL during the interview she said that "we only contact references of those who we look to hire" and then they called regarding a reference LOL so IDK if it's an underground way of saying "we want you" or what. I just haven't heard anything but I know that she also said they were looking to fill 2 spots so maybe if it takes awhile to bring 1 person in it may take longer to bring 2 in? LOL IDK I just want to have some assurance ?

Geeze, I still haven't gotten an "official" TO LOL but would you think if they called me back and said they were impressed and tried hard to get a reference on me that has to count for something? LOL
