UWOSH Accelerated Nursing May 2016 Cohort

U.S.A. Wisconsin

Published

Hi guys. Wanted to start a topic/thread for those applying into the May 2016 cohort, now that the application has opened. Has anyone else noticed on the application that the 2 recommendations are no longer required? Thought this was interesting.

As for me, I'm getting ready to take the TEAS V (Aug 1st) and finishing my CNA course next week with the state exam in August. I have a few months of CNA experience in a long term adult care facility and just got a job as a CNA at a local pediatric long term care facility, which I'm looking forward to since this is the area of nursing I hope to focus on after graduating (peds.) I graduated from the Univ of Pittsburgh back in 2001 with a dual BS in Psych and Business and did most of my post bach work in clinical psych (inpatient, outpatient, step down, peds again..) Applied and was accepted to PA school back in 2002 but decided that being a PA wasn't exactly what I wanted to do so waited, got married, had kids yada yada. Here I am, mid 30s, 2 young boys, applying into UWOSH. How about you? Say hi and introduce yourself so we can get to know one another during this ride. :) :)

Congrats Grenledgal!!!!! Great news!

Snwbal I got my email a 8:19am. I am sure the send them out in waves, so I am crossing my fingers for you!

Totally coming in waves. I bet you'll have yours by the end of the day snwbal! Keep confident!

Anyone else hear?

I got the email.....I was accepted!

Great aje!! Congrats!!!!

Haven't heard anything yet :/

I got waitlisted so whatever that means

JerBear, I think that means if they are not able to find clinical sites for those accepted or if someone decides not to accept the offer then they take people from the waitlist.

I was accepted!!! So excited! Good luck Jerbear. I've been waitlisted before and it can be hard waiting to hear. That's a great sign though. Like Aje said, some times people will decline admission or clinical sites will fall through so there's always hope! Good luck everyone! It does seem like the emails are going out in waves. Aje and GrenIedGal heard before me and I got my email in the last hour, so keep checking your emails today!

Congrats to everyone who got in! And if you got waitlisted, don't give up hope! People can and do chose to go to other schools so it's not impossible. And if you didn't get in remember you can always reapply! They are starting a 3rd cohort (February 2017 I think) as well so there will be more spots per year soon!

My first suggestion is to make a private fb group for the people who are going to go. I really do suggest keeping it to people who have been admitted and are going to attend (sorry, not trying to leave people out, just it allows for open communication!) but you guys can do whatever you want. It ends up being a great resource once the program gets going. People actually made fb accounts in my cohort just so they could be in the group because information can be passed so easily that way.

Best of luck everyone! May will be here before you know it! Just remember to breath and enjoy the time before the crazy.

Congrats BaiseyB and Snwbal!!! I agree we should set up a private facebook group for open communication!

I know what waitlist means I am just dissapointed. =( It doesnt say how many are waitlisted or what position you are in.

Hey Jerbear30 - I have been watching this thread for some time now, and I too have been waitlisted.

I e-mailed the respective Oshkosh e-mail, to find out if and what position I had been waitlisted.

Additionally, I asked if there is an average number of waitlisted students that do get an offer every year.

So, hang in there. I will let you know what I find out.
