UWG Nursing Program summer 2017

Published

Hello everyone I am applying to the nursing program in Dec. for summer 2017 at University of West Georgia. I took my TEAS and got an 82 but that is not needed for UWG. I am taking the HESI exam next month. I am a CNA recently passed my exam in October. I am worried GPA wise because my Gpa is not great. Please share your story and I hope we can support each other until the end.

Thanks for starting this trend! I will be taking HESI again this month. I said "again" cos I took it last year, made 88, got accepted into SON, but couldn't make it to the orientation cos I didn't meet the CNA deadline. You should count yourself lucky for getting CNA out of the way.

Please, if you are reading this, don't wait until you get accepted into SON before you go for your CNA. DO IT NOW!

My nursing GPA is 3.68. What's yours?

Hi GApeach, So I have a dilema I dont know if I be applying until i find out what my GPA is until the end of this semester I will keep you posted you have a great GPA I wish I had that but I am considering to apply for my RN to like West Tech college and Georgia Highlands. I took my TEAS in July and Scored an 82.7 and I am taking the Hesi for the first time Dec, 16th. I am pretty nervous about it.

My cousin got in this year with 3.23 GPA. I think taking that 15 credit hours helped him a lot, so what I'm saying is don't wait, apply. You never know. I was so amazed that they took him; his HESI was even that good.

I'm taking HESI on 21st. Will tell you how it went. I must say you shouldn't be nervous HESI is very much easier than TEAS. Just relax! Don't forget to tell me how you did.

God's speed!

I took my HESI exam today the 21st. I made 92%. Now, I feel awesome! I am on my way to 2017 UWG Nursing Program!!! I will keep checking in to see how you all did. I wish you luck and happy Christmas!

I applied for the UWG Nursing program 2017 this past December. I made an 82.6 on the HESI, not the best but I didn't study as much as I should have, and I have a 3.84 GPA. My advisor said that the HESI does not hold as much weight as GPA because the program has not been using that particular test for very long. She said typically it is good to aim for at least an 80 on the HESI & 3.4 GPA. I will also receive the 15 Credit hour bonus. My advisor also said that you really only need the 30 credit hour bonus if your GPA is under a 3.4. I feel pretty good about my chances of getting in. I have heard that not as many people have been applying recently as they have in the past, not sure if that is true though!

Also, does anyone know the exact date that Summer courses will begin? They have the days & times posted of the courses, but not the date which they start.

@jomo22

Congratulations on your achievement so far, and thanks for stopping by! We need to stick together here and encourage one another here with questions/answers and updates. Meanwhile, classes start June 5, 2017. It's always frist Monday in June. Are you a CNA already?

I agree that HESI doesn't count that much cos my coworker/friend got in last you with 72.4 in Hesi

Do you know if they give PowerPoints?

I have been a CNA since June. What do you mean by powerpoints?

PowerPoints as in handouts for lectures. I know we have to buy the ebook bundle (we must come to the orientation with it), but I don't know if they make PowerPoints (lecture notes) for each chapter? As in breaking the chapters down in one piece.

Hey everyone! I just submitted my application for their program.

3.54 GPA

80% HESI

already have a bachelors degree in another field

I've been a CNA for two years

I also applied for the Newnan campus as my first choice

I'm just praying and believing I'll get into their program! Feeling really good about it í ½í¸Š

Does anyone know anything about a "writing session"? I know that it has been done in the past for admittance to the BSN program, but have they since gotten rid of it??

@jomo, Hesi A2 replaced it!
