UWF Fall 2018 BSN Cohort

Published

Hi All, I haven't seen any news feeds for the 2018 fall entry at UWF. Just thought I would start something since the application due date was today. This school is my first choice, but I'm applying to a few programs. I have a 3.48 overall and 4.0 pre-req GPA and an 88.9 on the TEAS, but I don't have any of the other recommended classes. And, I wasn't able to get enough volunteer hours in time. I wish I knew how much those things mattered... Anyone else applying for this fall?

Hey! I just applied for the fall as well with a 4.0 gpa, 91 TEAS, all of the recommended courses except for one, and no volunteer hours. Was told by admissions that the average acceptance stats for the fall are usually around a 3.5 gpa and an 85 TEAS. She did say they put a heavy emphasis on the volunteer hours. Just hoping not having the hours wouldn't stop someone from getting admitted. Fingers crossed. Good luck!!

Thanks for responding! Your stats sound great! I think you're a shoo-in for the program. Are you currently a student there? Are you applying anywhere else? I can understand why they put a lot of emphasis on the volunteer hours, but I wish they had an interview like UNF. My overall GPA isn't the best, but I have another degree. It gets really hard to improve your GPA with so many hours:(. Best of luck to you although I don't think you'll need it!

So glad I finally found a page for this cohort! I am super nervous about getting in; I spoke to the admissions and she said that I had very competitive scores with a 3.61 GPA and a 81.3 on the TEAS. I took the TEAS again and scored higher. Nervous because everyone's scores seem higher but admissions told me not to worry with "such competitive scores." I have no volunteer hours but all recommended courses but one....any word on when we will hear about admissions?

I think the soonest we will hear anything is mid-April. Are you applying anywhere else? We should all keep each other posted. Best of luck!

Thank you, I hope so! Yes, I am a student there and it's the only program I have applied to. Your scores are still competitive! Plus I believe they give additional points based on the gpa of your prerequisites, so I'm sure that will help you as well seeing as you have a 4.0.

And yes, let's please keep each other updated! Not looking forward to being anxious for the next month:nailbiting:

FYI- Was told by admissions today that decisions won't be sent out until the end of April/beginning of May.

Just spoke with them today and they said the earliest we will know is Monday April 30th or early may. They also told me it was taking so long because there were over 200 applicants. She said with putting it on nursingCAS they got way more applications. Kind of scary but I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Thanks for the update kels55. It's funny because I was thinking that they might get less applications with it being on NursingCAS. I wasn't a fan of the software or the tedious entries for each credit hour (since I have another degree).

Yea I felt the same way, but I guess because that system makes it easier to apply to multiple schools at once you get applicants who are just applying as a backup school and don't really want to go here.

I applied as well and am stressing about the amount of applicants! I was told it was a record high, assuming that it was because it was online instead of mail in or hand carry in. My overall GPA is 3.66, Pre-req GPA 3.83 and Core req GPA 3.53 with an 85.3 on the TEAS (wish I could've done better). I have all the highly recommended courses completed, but don't have the volunteer hours. The advisor told me to remember that a lot of the applicants didn't have the minimum requirements but submitted an application just in case they could get accepted. Good luck to you guys! I had been looking for a forum but hadn't found one until this morning...been thinking about the application non-stop! I was told notifications go out first week of May...about 3wks to go!!!
