Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey ya'll!

Hope everyone is healthy and safe!

I wanted to know if anyone could share their experience (current/previous) in the ABSN program. What are the course load and clinic hours like? Is working part-time feasible? How did students pay for housing and living costs while in school (loans, scholarships, family help, etc.) What would you have done differently going into the program as well during the program? What specialities did you get to experience in your clinical rotations? Do you have a residency lined up or job offers?

Looking forward to your responses, cheers!

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to update you all- I emailed UW and they said they received a little over 500 apps this year, so definitely a lot more than previous years. Hope you all are doing well!

Thanks for the update! I think there's roughly 60-65 spots, so that's like a 12% acceptance rate.

how many applicants did they receive in the previous years? is 500 on the high side?

Hi all,

I’m in the current ABSN cohort. Hope you are all hanging in. It’s been a challenging quarter so far, but still not as bad as WAITING to hear back about acceptance!! I waited eight months from the time I applied to the time I got accepted from the waitlist and it makes me sick thinking about it. Wow, 500 applications is a lot. Last year I think it was ~350 and that was the record number to date. If anyone has specific questions about the program, I’m happy to chat through private message. Good luck!

Hey Lauren! It isn’t allowing me to send private messages- could I possibly email you? Thanks:)

I can’t send private message either. Would you mind share what you did to get into both BSN and ABSN program? Or what do you feel like you did that helped you to be accepted? Thx!

Hmm, that’s odd. I can’t send PMs to you either, not sure if that’s because of my account or yours. But I’m happy to talk all about that stuff. Go ahead and use my school email [email protected] and I will get back to you later today!

Hello, you will be able to send PMs (the PM feature is activated) once you have posted 15 substantial posts.   This is to discourage spammers from signing up and immediately beginning to send multiple messages to members.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Sometime in December! The website says "Successful applicants for the ABSN are notified in December and are expected to accept or decline admission no later than February 15."

Wish it was sooner LOL!

Last year decisions came out Dec 14th. So sorry for the wait. I know it’s brutal!!

definitely getting antsy now that it is December! does anyone have an updated timeline? I know they typically say mid December but I wasn't sure if it was going to take longer since there were more applicants than normal this year.
