UW Oshkosh Online Accelerated Program - May 2011

U.S.A. Wisconsin

Published

Thought I might start a post to communicate between those of us who have applied for the May 2011 Cohort. Feel free to join in and let everyone know if you have heard anything. I would imagine we will not hear much until December as we get closer to grades for the fall classes.

If you are lurking from a prior cohort, we (ok at least I) would love to hear your experiences (both good and bad) and how you might have approached things differently.

Best of luck to everyone!

Kimberly

Kimberly,

I've been done with my classes for awhile now. This is actually my second time applying. I applied to the October cohort but got put on the waitlist because I didn't have CNA experience. I've been working as a CNA ever since, so hopefully it does the trick!!

I bet it will! just the fact of applying twice i think give you a little edge because it shows your desire.

heathbar,

I agree with evolvingrn about your opportunity for the May 2011 cohort. Glad you have joined us. I am hoping to do my phone interview the week of the 13th.

Has anyone else done their phone interview yet?

Stay warm!

Kimberly

This is also my second time applying and I've heard that it does help your application. They see that you really want this specific program. It also helps if you have all your pre-reqs completed.

And yes I had the phone interview a couple weeks ago. I think it went well! They said they hope to tell ppl they were accepted by early January. That's not too far away! Good luck you guys!!!

I also had my phone interview, but they told me that I would find out the end of January. Not sure about the difference in dates...

you probably just had a different person interviewing you. I found out on december 23rd for the may cohort but i had classmates that found out mid janaury. there were various reasons for the delays, some had transcripts still out, others did not have a confirmed site for clinicals. Hang in there!

Hi all, still finishing up phone interviews, we say by Jan. 30, but we try to expedite as much as possible. The waiting is very difficult I know....but enjoy your holiday season with your family

Hi AccelFacil - Thank you for jumping in on our group with the insight.

Congratulations Cari001 and heathbar on finishing your phone interviews. I have mine next Tuesday. I know they are finishing up the interviews based on the phone interview email I received this week. Very exciting and can't believe we all should know within about 6 weeks. It seems like eons ago that the application was released in August.

I have two finals next week, but feel pretty good about both. We have about 4 inches of snow coming this weekend so it should be a great weekend to enjoy the season.

Take care...if there are any other lurkers out there for the UWO May Cohort, feel free to chime in.

Kimberly

Does anyone happen to know how interviews are scored for the admissions committee and how it affects their decision. I asked Sue but I forgot that she can't tell me anything. I think my interview went well, but it went awesome the last time so I'm a little bummed to be honest. If anyone as any comments please let me know. Thanks so much!!

And good luck on your phone interview Kimberly!! Hope all goes well! And then we wait.... :)

Hello Everyone,

Finished my phone interview this morning. Now we wait until January 2010. I am just going to enjoy Christmas and save the worrying for later.

Here's to a wonderful season to everyone.

If you still have to finish your phone interview...best of luck!

Kimberly

Hi all! Can I join in? Sorry to be a latecomer.

I also applied to the May 2011 cohort at this program. All I want for Christmas is a letter of acceptance! Sounds like we won't be hearing anything until well after the holidays, but a girl can still hope, right?

I am trying to stay distracted and not obsess over this. This was my first application and I realize it is unlikely that I will be accepted. Unfortunately, due to being a miltary wife with a somewhat unpredictable lifestyle/location, I don't know when I'll be able to apply again if I am not accepted into this cohort. It could be years before I am in a location that would work. I suppose I could choose to spend a year apart from my husband if he gets moved and I want to stay somewhere that I can do this program, but I really hate that choice. We already have to spend SO much time apart, we really like to minimize the time apart when we have a choice in the matter.

Just out of curiousity, what are the bachelors degrees you all hold already? Not that it matters for the application process, I was just curious what walks of life the various applicants are coming from. I have a BS in Crop Science and a BS in Agricultural Economics. I was originally planning to take over my family farm (large wheat and barley farm in WA state) with my brother as a career. Then I met and married my husband took off an adventure around the world (literally! We lived in Japan 3 of the past 5 years). I have decided that I need a portable career in order to be married to a career military man and I've always been a nurse at heart. I am really excited about this career change.

I had my online interview on Dec 3 and my phone interview on Dec 11. Ever since, I have been sort of obsessing over what I *should* have said, etc. :p I have a great GPA and test scores, but I only recently completed my CNA course and am STILL waiting on licensure. I honestly am not sure I'll be licensed as a CNA before Jan 30 (it'll be close). They say in the application materials that you have to be licensed by March 2011 which I will be easily, but I am afraid they probably won't consider accepting me in January if my license is still pending at that time.

Ok, enough about me! Just wanted you all to know that I am here and anxiously awaiting news too!:p
