UW Madison 2014 Nurse Residency Program

Published

Hello! I'm applying for the UW Madison Nurse Residency Program for the summer of 2014. I'll be a May 2014 graduate with a BSN. Is anyone else applying for this Nurse Residency program or have applied/went through the program in the past?

Does anyone have any idea what kind of questions we'll get in our interviews? Will it be similar to our phone interview where we were asked to "tell about a time when...."? Any ideas?

Ok. I was told by my nurse recruiter to request a hospital discount at the Best Western but its been really confusing because the employees there said they only give discounts to hospital employees and patients. Sounds like you got a good price on your hotel!

I went through Priceline as well. If you're driving, and not flying, you can get a hotel room just outside of the city for around 60 dollars.

I thought my interview went incredibly well. I wasn't really asked any specific questions so it didn't even really feel that much like an interview. I guess they got all the "describe a situation" questions out of the way during the initial phone interview because my unit manager just kind of talked over my resume and what the unit/program expectations were. Everything flowed really naturally so I think that's a good sign.

Here's to hoping. Waiting two months to hear back is gonna be brutal.

I was the only person interviewed for my unit today, but they said there's a couple more interviews next week. Overall it went well and the staff was fantastic. Just playing the waiting game now :) Good luck, everyone!

I got a ton of "describe a situation" questions but I was well prepared. Mine went well too. :)

What unit did you interview for?

I thought mine went well also! Let the waiting begin! 10 people interviewed for 3 positions.

I wish I would have asked how many people were interviewed for my position! Did anyone else interview for peds general?

A girl I was talking to was interviewing for peds general and she said 4-5 people :)

I should ask how many people they're considering for the unit I'm interviewing for next week.
