UW Madison 2014 Nurse Residency Program

Published

Hello! I'm applying for the UW Madison Nurse Residency Program for the summer of 2014. I'll be a May 2014 graduate with a BSN. Is anyone else applying for this Nurse Residency program or have applied/went through the program in the past?

I should ask how many people they're considering for the unit I'm interviewing for next week.

Which unit are you interviewing for?

Specializes in Critical Care.
Which unit are you interviewing for?

Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery, Heart and Lung Transplant. I think that my current critical care course and my capstone/synthesis next semester (which is on a cardiac floor) will prepare me to fit in extremely well with this unit and will be a phenomenal learning experience.

Ugh, another month or so of waiting...

Yea, that's not super awesome, but it's out of our hands now.

Random-ish question: My Fall term grades came out after my application was submitted and I had my interview. Do any of you think it would be helpful/worthwhile to send them in, or should I just leave it?

Hmm. I would just leave it at this point I think they are basing hiring off the interview. I say that because my interviewer talked about those interviewed were all academically excellent and questioned what made me stand out.

It might not be a terrible idea, just to give them a reminder about you and that you're still actively thinking about the opportunity. I've heard of people who were still getting called for interviews this last week, so they're still interviewing a lot of people!

Theyre still interviewing? Ouch. Felt that right in the confidence.

haha right!?! Not much we can do at this point though but wait it out! Was anyone able to get contact information from their interviewers? They didn't give me a business card and when I e-mailed the lady in charge of the program for contact info she never e-mailed me back. I wanted to send thank you's! I'm afraid I look rude now :(

I thought about doing that too. There was no exchange of contact info though.:/

The manager I interviewed with gave me his card, but told me that my primary contact through the process is still going to be Sue. I emailed Sue, and sent him a thank you letter.

Has anyone heard anything from anyone yet? I know they said end of February/early March so I'm starting to get anxious!
