UW Madison 2014 Nurse Residency Program

Published

Hello! I'm applying for the UW Madison Nurse Residency Program for the summer of 2014. I'll be a May 2014 graduate with a BSN. Is anyone else applying for this Nurse Residency program or have applied/went through the program in the past?

The step after the phone interview is to provide your references, and then comes a face to face interview with the nurse manager of the specific unit. Good luck to everyone!

Do you have a face to face interview scheduled?

Not yet. I just submitted my references this week, so I'm hoping to hear back about a face to face interview.

Congrats about the phone interview!! I was told they will be making the final choices of who they will invite for an in person interview within the next couple weeks - most likely the week before Christmas. I wonder how big the applicant pool is.

I need an opinon - On the email from HR, they state that they need 4 references. On the skillsurvey email, it said at least 4, so I put two employer references, and three professors for a total of 5. Do you guys think that's a big deal, or am I thinking too much into it?

I asked the HR rep during my phone interview if that would be okay to list more than 4 and she said 5 was great as long as 3 were clinical instructors, so I'm sure 5 is just fine.

On the UW Madison Nurse Resident website it says 4-5. I put 5 in - three professors, one nurse preceptor, and a manager. I had the same thought as you, but I think we're over thinking it :)

I would always give the max so I think you are right on!

I am curious also to how many applications they have received. I might ask during my phone interview.

If you ask, let us know please :) I'm curious too!

Based on how quickly we're hearing back, and everything is being set up, I wouldn't be surprised if its less than 100.

I asked on the phone how many people would move on to in person interviews, and they said about 100. Apparently they get close to 400 applicants in total.

Dang. I wonder how many out of those they just got rid of straight away. I'm nervous about getting an in person interview now. I have lots of unique experience that I feel not many people have though, so hopefully that plays in my favor.
