UV Medical Center Nurse Residency summer 2014

Published

Has anyone applied to the Nurse Residency program for summer 2014. I applied in October and according to HR applicants will be contacted by 12/13 if invited for an interview.

Has anyone heard back from them at all?

Is UV the same as UVA?

What exactly is a nurse residency program? I am not even in nursing school yet, so I would be interested to know what they are.

I am assuming it is a program for new grads, but it comes with a paying job too right?

The Nurse Residency Program at the UVa Health System is for the first 12 months of employment as a new RN. Prospective new graduates apply for this program shortly before they graduate (the application deadline for December 2013 graduates is was in October; the deadline for May 2014 graduates is the end of this month.

Ok, so for UVA specifically, is that how all new grad nurses are hired on there?

Or can you also apply for a job posting for RN 1 on the UVA Health System jobs page? What is the difference?

I applied November 1st and I have gotten all my references, cover letter, resume, transcripts, etc. to them and I still have not heard anything. So I would've heard by now if I had gotten an interview??

I still have not heard anything. I'm not sure if that means I didn't get an interview or what. An update would be very nice!

I know!!! I called HR today and someone said we wouldn't be called for an interview until January??

All new grads are hired into the new grad program. Each unit does their own thing for training on the floor but you guys will all go through new grad classes as a group.

My best advice for you guys is to go down to HR and drop your application off in person. Their computer system is delayed (I received an email saying I wasn't hired for a position after being on my unit at UVA for almost 6months).

I personally know 3 people that were hired by going down to HR and dropping their application.

I would love to turn in an app in person, but I live in Wisconsin at the moment. Hopefully, I still have a chance!

I live in NC, so I could easily drive up and do this. You think it's worth it?? How could someone in HR hire us? Isn't it the nurse managers decision??

Hey Ava2442! you have private messaged me, but I guess I do not have enough posts on this site to send private messages. I was interviewed for the nurse residency program on the 16th. I loved it there!! UVA seems to be an amazing hospital!

Were you contacted for an interview?
