UTSW Nurse Residency February 2020 Cohort

Published

Hello!

Yesterday was the first day of applications for UTSW Nurse Residency February 2020 cohort. I'm starting this thread for everyone who applied and/or planning to apply.

I submitted my application yesterday with interests in Critical Care Track and Surgical services track. I currently work in Urology in UTSW but I'm trying to get Acute Care experience so here I am. I hope they consider me!

Hope we find support in each other here. Good luck everyone!

Did anyone else never receive a rejection email from where you initially interviewed , but received an email to interview with another track yesterday?

My friend did, it’s an invite for other options I believe if you didn’t get into a specialty

Hi All!

I graduate in May and am looking to apply for the July start. For those who were accepted into the critical care placements, what were your GPAs? Did you feel this mattered?

I am in an accelerated program and the application is due before this semester transcripts are finalized. This semester will significantly jump my GPA which I want to show on my application. Did anyone else deal with this situation?

Thanks in advance!

Hello @northtexas8 I applied to the critical care track and I got the offer. To answer your question, when I applied I had a gpa of 3.63. I am not really sure what gpa score they are looking for..but I did have an advantage of getting the interview because I work at UTSW in the ICU. I think when you apply they do look at your GPA, but also they look at any past work experiences or volunteering you did as well. Also make sure your cover letter strongly states your passion to work in the ICU. And also make sure that you apply the day they open up the application. You will have a better chance of getting an interview if you apply early. Once you get the offer for an interview, I think what matters most from there is how well you answer your interview questions. I know that for critical care you will have 5 panel interview. So make sure that you practice interview questions and be confident. I wish you best of luck!

Hey everyone. For all ya'll that accepted a job offer - I'm kinda confused on the form I-9 thing. It says section 2 must be completed by an HR rep within 3 days of hire - so, do we have to just go up to HR ourselves or are they going to make us appointments?

Hi All. I'm applying for the July 2020 cohort but had a question regarding the Women's Services track. Do you have the option of choosing within the track (L&D, Maternal/Newborn, NICU) or is it just wherever they need you within that track?

I have been given the opportunitIES for new grad positions at BUMC & UTSW. I'm not sure which one to choose as they are both great hospitals.

any insight or advice is much appreciated!

I just received an email for an Interview for the July Cohort. Just curious as to what all did you take to the interview with you? Such as a portfolio for each person or just give each one a resume.

Just dress appropriately. You don't have to bring anything. I brought resumes but they had copIes already.

Anybody get an email yet about the first day? I’m getting nervous about where to go, what to wear, what time, etc.
