UTMB Summer 2015 - anyone?

Hello! I am a summer 2015 applicant. I haven't heard anything yet nor invited for an interview but I did receive my background check instructions and just sent in my clearance to UTMB. Under the "after acceptance" tab on the UTMB web page it says UTMB SON will initiate the background check upon acceptance. I read in the spring 2015 forum that they send this to everyone that applied but the website makes it seem like you get the background check email after being accepted. This makes me initially think I got accepted by the committee but not officially given a Mystar status change or email until they get my clear background check. I could be wrong but the website makes it seem that way. Anyone have any more knowledge about this? Thanks!

What do you mean by "clearance"

Once accepted you get a whole new mystar access with a different user name and have to call to get a password.

I would call them b/c it does sound like you were accepted.

What I mean by clearance is that I got my background check done after recieving an email from UTMB with instructions on what to do and where to go for the background check with a fast pass attached. And since my background is clear I have to send a copy of the blue background clearance paper I recieved in the Mail to UTMB. Did anyone else get this email on 12/18/14?

Yes, okay just wanted tom make sure we were on the same page. Def. sounds like you were accepted. Check to see if you got an email on 12/16 from Elizabeth stating you were accepted. What about your green circle in my star?

Mystar still just says complete. I'm just wondering if they need a clear background check before changing your status. Why would the web page say they will initiate the background check process upon acceptance if I wasn't accepted? My friend that got in for fall 2014 said she sent Her background check to UTMB before official acceptance. I'm just really confused and would like to find out for sure before I send in my application for fall. Definitely calling tomorrow

That circle that says complete should have changed to a check mark, then that account would be closed and they send you an other email with new my star instructions. They do a pre-check that is submitted in March to verify your past prior to the official background check so I don't that has anything to do with it. Something is off here, just give them a call.

Also - did you pay the $200 before the deadline? I wonder if that has something to do with it...

Hang onto the email, dont delete it. Even if you arent accepted. Its a long process and they may not contact you for a while. But they wont send you a new email if you apply again. I'd call them and ask what the status for applicants is right now

I called when I got the email as well becasue I wasn't sure if I got accepted but they said that it gets sent to all prospective students. When I called in January to figure out the status of everything, the lady I talked to said they were still doing interviews.

Yes I just called and they do send it to everyone. They also said don't worry if we haven't heard anything since they were out 2 weeks for the holidays and that we will hear something in the next several weeks. I'm going to go ahead and apply for fall though since the deadline is in 3 days. Not taking any chances!
