Howdy! I couldn't find a thread for Spring 2016, so I figured I would start my own. I'm having trouble with this whole application thing (mostly stress!), so I would love to talk to others going through this same process!
Ok I did some research here Best Nursing School Rankings | Nursing Program Rankings | US News
and...
UT-Austin #13
UTHSC-Houston # 26
UTMB-Galveston #43
TWU-Denton #46
@Dfalck3 TWU nurses are preferred in Houston area? That's interesting! I wonder why? I looked into TWU and it showed 1-2 extra pre-requisite courses I needed to take. I am SOOO done with pre-reqs honestly! It's between UTHSC-Houston and UTMB for me. If someone attended both of their campuses, can you give some feedback why you would choose one or another? I know someone said UTMB has more of family atmosphere... Any other thoughts?

I know! I don't really know why, I do know they are very well prepared (I have a friend that goes to TWU in Dallas). I heard that TWU nurses are liked over others in the Houston area from some people that work in MD Anderson, and then also from a friend that goes to UTHSC-Houston. I really don't know why. There's one thing that is unappealing to me (but it's a characteristic that my friend who goes to TWU likes), is that TWU has 4 semester but with summers in between, so it takes a bit longer to finish their BSN.
I have been in both campuses (My husband goes to UTMB so I'm around a lot) and I was in TWU a lot when I lived in Dallas.. I really think they are both amazing schools, but I just liked the way UTMB works better; they have great student-counseling, they have an amazing simulation lab (That might not be the correct name), and they work with several good hospitals.
I really think it ends up being a matter of personal preference and that you can't go wrong with either choice (UTMB, TWU or UTHSC).

Yes, that is true. That's why I'm applying to TWU as well, they really want high TEAS scores, good GPAs, and they give you points for having a previous BS (which I do not have though) and if you took the pre-reqs in TWU.
